Improve Memory
This article is about how to improve memory.
Finding out how powerful your memory is right now
In advance of the start of your programme as you make a start developing your memory it is a great idea to have a little fun and find out just how strong your memorization powers are right now. Doing this short test will show you where your memory is strongest – eg., you remember things well or you remember the order of things better. Of course it will also show you where you memory needs to have a bit of practice.
Keep in mind - if you don’t use it - you lose it!!
Cognitive psychologists have come to the conclusion that we recall things by uniting a certain part of them with other things we know already. For instance, on returning to an former birthplace or your old institution may have realized that catching sight of a certain photograph on the wall, or a certain piece of furniture, etc., made you 'suddenly summon up' things that you would otherwise, have totally forgotten. Your mind was linking all the ideas and fragments of experiences that had been associated with the object at which you were gazing. This tenet applies, no matter how complicated the memory situation is. Even when remembering complicated numerical formulas or very complex ideas, there is a link in the personal history which kick starts the memory you want.
Scan the record of 20 objects once, and then directly hide it or close the page. On a fresh piece of paper write down as many of them as you can bring to mind, attempting to get them in the correct order. Score yourself in two ways:
-The number of items you remembered out of 20
-The number of items that you listed in the correct order (if you reversed certain items they are both wrong with regard to the second score! J Sorry!).
