Psychological impotence, can be caused by a number of factors, stress, depression and anxiety are the main three psychological causes of erectile dysfunction, but other factors to consider are guilt and fatigue. Stress can play a major roll when it comes to impotence, it can affect you, if you find your self in a particularly stressful situation or have a stressful occupation or maybe you have money worries or marital problems. Depression and anxiety can also play a big part in the onset of of impotence, depression affects a person physically and psychologically. Drugs used to treat depression can also cause impotence ans can affect the effectiveness of impotence treatments.

Anxiety, once a man experiences impotence, he may worry that the situation will happen again to the point that affects his ability to attain an erection. Fatigue will also cause impotence, fatigue will physically and mentally drain a person, if the situation is not addressed fatigue can cause anxiety and depression. Low self esteem and the feeling of inadequacy, this can be down to past episodes of impotence, if you have experienced erectile dysfunction then a feeling of inadequacy is only natural, but it dose not help the situation.

Most of the psychological causes of impotence will normally only cause temporary impotence, when the situation you are in passes you will normally find that you sexual health and libido returns, there are also a number of different treatments available for the treatment of impotence, these include oral medication and penis pumps, treatments are not always the answer though, the under lying causes of the problem should be looked at first, may be there are issues in your life you have to sort out, and in most cases when the troubles and worries go so will the impotence. May be you need to talk to a counsellor or doctor to sort out the problems you may have. Recent surveys have identified that only 20% of impotence cases are psychological and the other 80% are attributed to physical problems.
