The importance of breakfast for students is that it improves their academic performance. Those students who take breakfast before going to school are more attentive in the class and can concentrate in studies in a much better manner. Thus, it helps them in their learning process in the school. On the other hand, those who skip breakfast are less energetic and remain inactive in the class. As a result, they face difficulties in learning new things.
The importance of breakfast for kids who are overweight is that it helps in weight loss. Obese children, particularly teenagers, tend to skip breakfast with the hope that they can lose some weight. However, the fact is just the opposite. While sleeping the metabolism process slows down as the body does not get any food. There should be at least one fresh fruit in the breakfast diet of your kid daily. Fruits like grapes, oranges and mangoes are good sources of vitamins. Bananas supply carbohydrates and potassium while berries are rich in antioxidants. If the child is more interested in fruit juice then you can serve juices as well. Cereals are rich in carbohydrates and fiber and are low in fat. Most of the fortified cereals that are available today contains useful vitamins like folic acid and minerals like iron and zinc. The cereal can be served with milk. We all know milk is enriched with proteins and will meet the calcium requirements of the kid as well. Kids mostly love yogurt and they will feel happy to get it in the breakfast and it will supply vitamins B and calcium. Egg and toast is a traditional healthy breakfast for kids. The toast made of whole wheat is rich in fiber and is good for their digestive health while the egg is a good source of protein.
If your children gives a lot of excuses for avoiding this meal, help them understand the importance of breakfast for children and you will find that they will eat without any complain. In case, they skip the breakfast for crunch of time, make arrangements for some handy foods like fruits, cheese, yogurt and instant oatmeal. These kinds of foods can be eaten even while traveling to school.
