Immortal Nights - Chapters 12 and 13
Caleb goes to Bailey's room and finds out Emily that she's been missing for a few days. After Jamie walks in on a kiss, will she ever forgive Cal or will he lose Bailey even if they save her?
Chapter 12 - Caleb
I knocked on the door of Bailey’s room. I was planning to take her for an evening stroll since we hadn’t spent a lot of one on one time in a while. I couldn’t help but think that, as a couple, we were fading. It wasn’t that I didn’t have feelings for her but I was starting to see her as a best friend with a bit of kissing. We used to tell each other everything and were inseparable but not anymore...
The door opened and I smiled. "Hi! Um who are you?" I looked at the girl standing before me. She was tanned, blonde and quite tall. This was not Bailey.
"I’m Cal, is Bailey here?" The blonde looked me up and down and smiled.
"No, she’s not. I’m here roommate Emily. Do you want to come in? I can explain everything." She opened the door wide and let me in. She walked over to her bed and sat down. I found a chair, dragged it over to where she was and made myself comfortable. "Okay, Bailey was sent off in a hurry on a mission, job thing not last night but the night before. Um, I don’t know what exactly it is or anything but I thought she would be back by now."
"Hmmm. Do you know when she’ll be back?" I asked.
"No. But aren’t you sweet worrying about your friend," she gushed.
"She’s not a friend."
"Oh, sister?"
"Girlfriend," I grumbled, slightly annoyed. I was worried about Bay now. She should’ve been back by now. I rubbed my hands together and lowered my head.
"Oh hey, I’m sorry. She never mentioned a boyfriend to me, I thought she would’ve mentioned one especially if he looked like you do!" She gushed. She slid off the bed and rubbed my shoulders soothingly. "It's fine, she’ll be fine. But honestly I thought she would’ve told you since you're her boyfriend and all." I looked up and nodded. She pushed my shaggy hair out of my face and looked me in the eyes. Suddenly her lips were on mine. I tried to break apart but her hand was pushing my head towards hers.
"Oh. My. God!" I heard yelled. Emily broke away and I looked over at the door. "You bastard! How could you do such a thing?" Jamie yelled. I quickly stood up and pointed at Emily.
"She just lunged at me, I couldn’t get away! She’s crazy Jamie, we only just met. I came here looking for Bailey!"
"For God’s sake Cal, the least you could do is own up to it and not lie to my freaking face. I am going to tell Bailey as soon as she gets back, you can bet my soul I will! You cheating man whore!" I started to walk over but Jamie stormed out. It was no use.
"Well, that got the girlfriend out of the picture!" Emily cheered. I spun around coldly and slowly.
"Look what you have done! Bailey and I might’ve been going through a tough time but it doesn’t mean I would’ve cheated on her. I don’t know where you come from and I actually really don’t know who you are but let me tell you this. Never, ever talk to me or even look at me again. Got it!" I slammed the door on the way out, leaving Emily standing in her room stunned. I walked out the building and leant against the brick wall. I hit the back of my head against the rough bricks, then spun around and started punching it...hard.
"Whoa man," someone grabbed my arms and turned me around, "Calm down, you’re going to hurt yourself." A guy about my age stood in front of me. He was just a bit smaller but looked like he could throttle me if he wanted to.
"That’s the point," I spat.
"Well, I think you already did a pretty good job mate," he said studying my knuckles which now had dark red blood oozing out. "C’mon, I’ll go get some bandages, just wait here a second." He ordered.
I waited a few minutes until he returned. He quickly wiped off the blood, cleaned the wounds with antiseptic and wrapped my hands in the white bandages carefully and skillfully. He had definitely done this before. "Thanks... Uh, what’s your name?" I asked him when he finished his work.
"Jason and you're Cal right?" He asked.
"Um, yeah," I laughed, "Hey you wouldn’t of happened to see a girl around. Short, pale, really red hair?"
"Bailey?" He asked me.
"Yes!" I cheered, "So you’ve seen her?"
"Well, not exactly. I think you need to go talk to Joel. C’mon I’ll take you."

"Cal, calm down!" Dave yelled, holding my shoulders.
"Tell me where she is," I spat, shoving forward to reach the door to Joel’s office.
"Calm down and we’ll you in and explain ok? I’ve been meaning to talk to you anyway. Just calm the hell down boy!" I stopped pushing and took a few deep breaths. I nodded at Dave and he led Jason and I in.
"Ah Dave, what was the entire ruckus about, out there?" Joel asked, looking up from some work on his desk. I took a seat in front of him and looked him dead in the eyes.
"Where’s Bailey?" I practically growled. Joel laughed.
"You’re right about this one Dave, lots of soul. Sometimes that’s not good boy. Sometimes that can get you killed." I wasn’t sure but to me that sounded like a threat. "Well, considering your and Bailey’s relationship and what I need you to do I think that I can let you know. Dave, explain."
"Bailey was asked to be on a team that went on a mission, she accepted and two nights ago they left for that said mission. I must admit, it wasn’t the easiest mission, especially for Bailey since she was going undercover."
"Undercover!?" I yelled.
"Yes," Joel answered, "She was playing the part of Lady Blaire, a vampire Bailey destroyed just a year ago, quite royal in the vampire community and they looked very alike, so we took the risk."
"But that’s so dangerous!"
"Of course, it was boy," Joel laughed, "But Bailey has a lot of talent! We thought she could look after herself."
"Thought?" Came Jason’s voice.
"You know she was good Jason, you were on her team!" Joel replied, "Yes, well Bailey got captured and is now being held in their quarters."
"What!" Jason and I both yelled.
"We have to get her out!" I yelled, standing up and shoving some paper off Joel’s desk and onto the floor. Anger rushed through my veins, my vision was blurred and I could only think about her.
"That’s what we wanted to ask you," Dave soothed, "We need you on a team to get her out."
"Anything," I agreed.

Chapter 13 - Charlotte
Charlotte makes a plan to get Bailey away from her mother on the day of Abe's funeral. Also after a romantic encounter she finds out some bad news.
************************************************************
"I called this meeting so that I could explain few things," I addressed the vampires in front of me.
I was sitting at a table in a local, dodgy bar that I knew no one from my clan would be at. If they were and they heard anything I was about to say I would be destroyed. I was at an emergency meeting of the Half Souls, a group of half vampires, meaning that only one parent was a vampire while the other was human. When I had found out about the group I had instantly wanted to join, most were very against it at first, considering I was a ‘No Soul’ but I had convinced them using the argument of being a spy in the vampire headquarters and they had eventually said yes. They’re not many members of the Half Souls as it was actually very rare, and some half vampires never actually found out what they were and were just diagnosed with iron deficiency or other medical terms.
"They have captured the chosen one and I know they plan on changing her to a vampire. I don’t know when but it will happen."
"This is crazy! How do we know that she is the chosen one at all!?" Yelled the only other female in the group, Rhia.
"It’s all in the prophecy. She was born on a full moon, her hair is ‘as red as the flames that will decide the fate of all,’" I quoted from the prophecy, "And she has the most strength of all of us." I looked around the pub making sure no one was listening into our conversation.
"She’s right," said Malcolm. Malcolm was one of our newer members and was usually quite. He was only around eighteen and I had heard he had gone through a lot of tough times. Apparently this was the closest he had to a family. "This chick is the only chance we got. I don’t want this curse anymore and the only way we know of that can get rid of it is through this chick." Rhis crossed her arms and stuck her nose up in the air, defeated but not admitting so.
"So as I was saying, we need to get her out and I have a plan."

"Ahh, there’s the bride to be," came my grandfather’s voice. I spun around and smiled at him.
"Yes grandfather."
"You seem happy about this. What’s changed your mind?" He squinted his eyes at me quizzically. I went through the lie I had been practicing since I had gotten back from the meeting an hour ago.
"I had a long, deep think about it and realized that I would love to take the honor and that Theo would be a great prince," I said looking straight into Grandfather’s eyes.
"See I knew you would come around," he grinned and did that icy chuckle of his. I heard a click of a lock and saw mother had entered the room.
"What is all this jolliness about?" She asked.
"Charlotte has finally come around," he poured himself a glass of blood and gin and made his way out the door, "I’m going to organize the ceremony right away!" When he left mother shut the door behind him, locking it. she smiled and suddenly I was pinned up against one of the library’s bookcases.
"I know you are up to something Charlotte," mother hissed, "And I know it’s not good." I shoved her off me. I had always been stronger than her. She was a weakling, a lamb in a family of jaguars. I laughed.
"You think I do, and even if I do how do you plan to prove it hmm?" I smiled sinisterly, "Everyone knows father does not trust you, you abandoned everyone, for a human! He doesn’t even want you as Queen!" I laughed and walked out the door, "Talk to me when you realize you are a failure."
************************************************************
Theo smiled and gave me a peck on a cheek. He surprised me by waiting inside my room for me when I returned and it was a very pleasant surprise. "Why hello," I purred.
"Charlotte," Theo scolded playfully, "Why do you make yourself so irresistible?" He raised and I playfully pushed him away.
"I didn’t realize," I murmured batting my eyelids. He grabbed my hand and pulled me onto the bed next to him. He smoothed a stray lock of hair behind my ears and ran a finger along my jaw, looking deep into my eyes. "How is my wife to be?" He asked.
"All good now," I could hardly believe how young and different I was acting, but I was finally starting to accept the marriage, if not the reigning part. He rested his forehead on mine and I closed my eyes, feeling safe in his presence. His lips lightly and quickly grazed mine and I opened my eyes and stared into his. I placed my hand on his chest, tracing a finger in circles on his black, button up shirt.
He kissed me again, deeper and longer this time. His lips firm but soft and longing and I embraced him back. I broke it off and he wrapped his arm around me and I placed my head on his chest. He played with my hair and I just felt like nothing else was happening in the world. I forgot about becoming queen, I forgot about tomorrows plans, I forgot about the prophecy, I forgot about everything. We sat like that for nearly half an hour then Theo nudged me.
"You going to be ok tomorrow?" He asked. Ah tomorrow, Abe’s funeral. When Abe bit Bailey her blood had poisoned him. Another thing about half vampires, their blood was poison to full ones. I had actually made sure that I had made the day to get Bailey out was that day as everyone would be down in the ceremony dungeon.
"I’ll be ok," I nodded.
"I know you two were close, it’s sad what’s happened. He was a good leader."
"Have they decided on a new clan leader?" I asked.
Abe nodded, "Me."
I knocked on the door of Bailey’s room. I was planning to take her for an evening stroll since we hadn’t spent a lot of one on one time in a while.
