Great! You just save someone without any memory from his past. How can you help him go back to his world?! This is a story of finding the one that was meant for you....please do leave your comments...
‘Oocchh…’
I heard him groaned inside my room so I left the dishes in the sink and check him. As I entered the room I saw him sitting at the edge of my bed, his hands were at his head.
‘You’re finally awake. How are you feeling?’ I asked him sweetly while I sat beside him.
‘My head hurts like hell!’ he said looking straight to my eyes. His brows were brought at the center.
‘Well that’s to be expected. You’re got a head trauma- I mean a concussion. Don’t worry about it, it’s not bleeding anymore. Are you hungry?’
Confusingly, he touches lightly the bandage in his head before he nods at me.
‘Okay then! Breakfast is ready in a minute so just stay there and relax okay?’ I said cheerfully at him. My friends once told me that my cheerfulness is very contagious, so hoping in all hope that he will somehow smile a little. He just nods at me and then rested his head in the head board.
I sigh and then march toward the kitchen and prepares for his breakfast. I just cook him a pancake, some egg and bacon and also prepared him a coffee. I also took some Tylenol in my medicine cabinet for his pains.
‘Here you go.’ I said still smiling at him.
‘Thank you. I’m starving to death after seeing these foods.’ He said smiling at me and immediately he started eating.
I just watch him eat at the little fest I prepare for him. All of the sudden I remember something. I never introduced myself to him. ‘By the way I’m Ticia- I mean Avi. My I know your name?’ I ask him politely. I was sitting in the floor.
He froze as if something had struck him. The fork full of pancake is in the mid air before he puts it down to his plate and then looks at me, there were confusion in his eyes. ‘My name is- is… my name, I don’t know my name.’ he said to me blankly.
‘What?!’ I started to get up on my feet and seated next to him. Oh great! This is just great! ‘Try to think what happen to you before you woke up in this room.’ I commanded at him.
He was silent for a while and then to my aghast he throws the plate on me and the coffee was spilled all over my lap. I shouted and I almost swear at him but I was stun upon the sight of him holding his head with his two hands and was about to bang his head in the concrete wall. I immediately came to his side but I was seconds late. He already hits his head. I can’t help but winced at him.
‘Why can’t I remember a thing? Why? What’s wrong with me?’ he murmured under his breath. His pauses for a while as if thinking of something after a moment of silence he began shouting and screaming again. He panic and was about to hit his head again.
Without thinking a thing I hug his bent head tightly hoping it will stop him from hurting himself. Even though I hug him he didn’t cease from what he is planning to do. I end up hurting my self. Instead of his head, it was my back that hits the wall. To tell you, it hurts like hell! I lean on the wall trying my might not to moan from the pain I felt. I loosen my hug to him and for a moment we stayed that way.
He then looks at me straight in my eyes and ask. ‘What’s happen to me? Why can’t I remember a bit? When- when I try my might to remember my past, my head hurts! Damn it. It is as if my memory was erase of some sort.’
I sigh and got up. ‘You must take this first.’ I said and gave him the medicine. ‘It’s for the pain.’ I first fix the mess he’d made awhile ago before I start explaining to him my deduction to his dilemma right now. ‘I think you have amnesia.’ I told him diplomatically after he takes in the medicine I gave him.
‘Pardon me?’
I sigh and explain to him. ‘Amnesia is loss of memory. Primary cause is that head injury. Don’t worry,’ I reassured him. ‘Some amnesia was temporary, but there are others which is permanent…’ I trailed off.
‘So you mean I might or might not regain my memories back?’
I just nod at him.
‘How long do I get my memory back? Supposing it is temporary that is.’
‘It takes quite a while. A day or two, a week, a month, a year, I can’t really tell you exactly the duration of your memory loss. To tell you the truth, I just read about this. I’m not an expert here, you know.’
‘Oh…’
‘It takes time to regain your memories. In the meantime, you can stay here with us. I’ll talk to my mom about this and explain your situation. I’m sure she will be glad that you stay. For now, just take some rest. Your head injury seems pretty bad. Just rest okay? I’ll just check you up every now and then. If you happen to need anything I’m just outside.’
‘Why are you doing this?’ he asked me suspiciously. ‘I mean why are you so kind to me? I’m just a stranger and then you willingly help me just that?’
‘What do you expect me to do?’ I smiled at him. ‘Besides that is what I’m doing for the past three years, helping a stranger that is.’
‘So you’re a philanthropist then?’
‘Nope…’ I marched towards the doors. ‘I’m just doing my job.’ I said under my breath.
Later that I was so busy doing my chores that I totally forgot about the unknown man inside my room. I’m about to finish cleaning our living room when I heard footsteps. I thought at first it was my mom but I was wrong. It was the unknown man. He’s standing just outside my room and is now looking intently at me.
‘Hungry?’ I ask me. ‘I haven’t cook something for lunch so-’
‘I’m not hungry.’
‘How is your head?’ I ask while I continue my job
‘The medicine’s effects were starting to wear off.’ He informs me calmly.
‘That’s to be expected.’ I said without looking at him.
For a moment he was quite as if thinking of something. Then out of the blue he asks me. ‘I’m just wondering how you found me? You see I’m just thinking and I then strike me.’
‘Oh that! You’re easy to find. You’re lying motionless on the ground and I came to help you.’ I simply said at him. ‘I’m having my walk then to freshen up that’s the time I saw you. You were soaking wet and not breathing so I do CPR.’
He was quite a while. ‘You sure is fond of helping helping stranger'.
