‘Klive?’ his mom rushes towards him. She hugs him tightly. ‘We were worried about you. Are you okay?’

‘Yes mom.’ He said distractedly. Klive keep his gaze lock at the operating room’s door. It’s been an hour since Avie enters the said room. On their way to the hospital he was a bit relieve when he finally palpates her pulse. It was weak and almost impalpable. They do first aid to Avie on their way to the hospital. They were able to stops her gunshot wounds from bleeding but after they arrive, Avie’s doctor orders for blood transfusion on her. Her doctor says that she had lost so many blood and they can’t operate her without a fresh pack red blood cell. With all strings pull, Klive was able to secure fresh pack red blood cells in no time. For the first time after he regains his memory, he is glad to have so many connections.

Klive already instructed his men about Mrs. Henrich’s dead body and also with Oliver. He will file a murder case to Oliver and to what Oliver had done to Avie, Klive’s sure that there’s more to come. He would make sure that Oliver nerve ever going to be out in prison.

‘Klive,’ he’s Mom calls his attention. ‘John told us everything. How is she?’

He sighs and exhaustingly buried his face with his two hands. He then focuses his gaze to the OR door. ‘She’s inside the operating room Mom. She had loss so many bloods with four gunshot wounds. The doctor told me earlier that there is a bullet stock inside her body and…’ he trailed off. The doctor also told him awhile ago that one bullet almost hit her heart.

His mom puts a hand on his shoulder for comfort.

Another hour later Avie’s operation hasn’t over. Klive’s frustration is going into the surface. He keeps on walking back and forth from the waiting room to the OR’s door. He still wears his blood stained shirt. It was Avie’s blood. For the past hours Klive didn’t like what keeps playing into his mind. Okay… Avie is a strong girl. She will not die. Come on Avie fight for it, he though as he looks at the OR.

Minutes later finally Avie’s doctor came out from the operating room. With a head cap on his head and a mask under his neck he moves towards Klive. ‘How is she?’ Klive ask holding his breath.

‘Mr. Thompson the operation is successful… but-’

He sighs in relief. ‘Thank goodness.’ As if he realizes that he rudely interrupts the doctor from what he’s going to say, he ask and throws the doctor an apologetic look. ‘But what?’

‘But she lapse into coma. She is in a state of unrousable unconsciousness. We can’t tell you exactly when will she regain her consciousness or will she regains it at all.’ He sigh as if it pains him to tell Klive the next sentence. ‘She losses a lot of blood and some of her vital organs we hit by the bullets including her heart.’ The doctor first took a deep breath before he continues. ‘The first hour, she’ll stay in the recovery room to monitor her for any complications post operatively. Then we’ll transport her to the Intensive Care Unit. There she’ll stay and further monitors by our staff.’

Slowly he seated at the seat just next to him. it is as if his knees were weaken by the doctors news. ‘So you mean to say that there is nothing you can do to help her?’ he whisper and is too close from breaking into tears.

‘We’ve done our part and it’s up to her for now on.’ The doctor said to him matter-of-fact.

‘What kind of doctor are you?’ he asks frustrated. He stands up and grabs the doctor’s collar. The doctor struggles for his life. ‘Your suppose to-’

‘That’s enough!’ Said his mother and gentle remove his hand from the doctor’s collar. ‘I’m sorry. He’s got a rough day today and his frustrations got into him.’

The doctor, which is in the middle of his forties, smile at Mrs. Thompson while continuously grasping air. ‘I understand Mrs. Thompson and as a director of this hospital, rest assured that we will do our best to help your patient.’

‘I do hope you will, doctor.’ She said seriously. ‘Can we see our patient?’

‘Maybe an hour Madam, you can see her in the ICU.’ He said and then excuses himself from them.

‘You have an hour before you can see her. Go home take a nice shower and change your clothes. It might change you disposition.’ She said to her son throwing an impression to him that she didn’t like what he done earlier. ‘Return here after an hour and be sure you’re in your usual self. Don’t worry I’ll take in charge while you’re not around.’

Without a word he stands up and marches the exit.

‘And oh… the press is waiting for you that way. Go the other way. John’s waiting for you there.’

After taking a good shower, Klive’s disposition hasn’t change. He is pissed off by everything that had happen that day. He was pissed by Oliver, the director of the hospital, his mom and now himself. He fell so helpless not being able to help Avie and her Mom. If he could do something that moment, Mrs. Henrich wouldn’t be dead and Avie wouldn’t be in coma right now.

At that though, he can’t help but to get more frustrated. Without thinking he hit the wall with his fist. He hit the wall again and then again then again then again then again. His fist bleeds but he couldn’t felt the pain.

Later as he is able to hold himself, he immediately gets dress. He picks up his phone and calls someone. ‘Prepare the chopper. I’ll be there in a minute.’ He gets out in his house and hurriedly goes towards his car were John’s waiting for him. ‘I’m going back there. I need an outlet for my anger and frustrations.’ He said to him as he goes inside his car.

Thirty minutes later they arrive. He assesses the environment before he gets out. He saw blood on the sand near the hut he used to live. It was Mrs. Henrich’s blood. He avoided looking at the blood stain far from his left. It was Avie’s.

Klive first attended Mrs. Henrich body. Just as what Mrs. Henrich requested he immediately buried her where she’d told him. To Mrs. Henrich’s tomb left side he notices that the tomb’s name is Avie but couldn’t see its family name. He didn’t pay any attention to that.

Klive then goes to the police station. He checks the documents that his bodyguard provided him. Satisfied sign it. He then checks Oliver inside his prison cell. Oliver’s cell is small, smelly, dirty and crowded with his cellmates. Klive saw Oliver near the bars, head is buried into his hands.

‘Oliver…’ he calls his attention.

Upon hearing his name, Oliver stands up and headed near the bars. ‘How is she?’ he ask expecting an answer from Klive.

Klive face darkens at his question. He couldn’t restrain himself from grabbing Olive’s neck and choke him. ‘You have no right to ask about her. You’re the one done these to her!’ he exclaim. Moments later he felt John’s hands onto his shoulder and realize what he has been doing. He immediately let Oliver’s neck go. ‘She lost the only family she’s got and it is all because of you! Your selfishness!’

Oliver keeps on coughing for air and is now kneeling on the ground. ‘I did…’ he coughs. ‘I didn’t mean to kill her mother.’

‘But you did! And on top of that, you hurt Avie.’

‘I just wanted her to be my bride.’

‘You already have a BRIDE! Damn it!’ Klive said with so much anger and frustration he felt towards Oliver. ‘And could you not decipher that she didn’t even like to be YOUR bride?’

Oliver is silent as if truth just hit him for the first time.

Klive sighs. ‘You’re going to be stuck in here, where you belong, for the rest of your life. I’ll see to it that you can’t get out of here. If you used your connections, I’ll use mine. I’ll do everything and anything to make you pay for what you’ve done to Avie.’ Without a word he turns his back to Oliver.

Klive closes his eyes and rested his head on the seat. He is heading towards his chopper. ‘You sure vent your frustrations to that guy. You almost killed him.’ John, the one who’s driving the car commented on his behavior awhile ago.

‘That guy is a shit! He deserves more than that.’ Klive said without looking at him. ‘John, make sure he can’t bail his way out.’

‘No problem.’ He said. ‘By the way, I receive a call from your Mom an hour ago. She would like to inform you that Ms. Avie is already at the ICU. There isn’t any complication post operatively and that she’s in the care of the ICU staff.’

Klive just nods at the information. ‘I would like to put some security on the ICU. With the instructions that only me and my family were the only persons can visit Avie. No reporters can go near her. And I would like you to inform the institution about keeping their staff’s mouth shut about this. I don’t want Avie to be harassed by the press when she regains her consciousness.’

John secretly smiled to himself. ‘You’re the boss.’

For the second time that day Klive just nods at him.

Later he arrives in the hospital. Klive immediately goes to the wing where the ICU is located. He sees his Mom impatiently waiting for him. ‘Where have you been?’

‘Just doing some stuff. How is she?’

‘You better see for your self. I’m going home. I need to check on something.’

‘Thank you Mom.’ Klive said then hurriedly enters Avie’s room.

There he see her lying motionless on the bed. He moves towards her and winced upon seeing her small body being attached with so many machine. Klive see her beautiful face but instead of seeing pinkish red cheeks he sees now is a ghost pale one. He seats down on the chair that is near Avie’s bed and took her hand. It is cold and unresponsive.

‘Avie…’ he bit his trembling lower lip. He puts Avie’s cold hand to his cheeks. ‘Don’t leave me. Please don’t die. I still need you. Please Avie don’t die…’ he trailed of as one tear falls from his eyes.
