If Only

Please, please comment, please
If only I had chosen the other direction,
Maybe I wouldn’t be here now,
Undecided and confused,
With no idea of where I am meant to go.

If only I had turned back,
When I still had a chance,
To correct the wrong,
And wrong the rights,
I had made before.

If only I hadn’t gone on,
And stayed where I was,
Maybe then I would be content,
Or even happy.

If only I had not lived the way I did,
The way I am,
The way I thought would be right,
But turned out to be wrong.

If only I had listened to the voice,
That was constantly inside my head,
But a voice I chose to ignore,
The voice would have led me right.

If only I didn’t wish my life away,
And learned that there should be,
No if only,
But more yes I’m glad I did that.
