Ideas for Decorating Baby Room

There are so many ways in which a baby room can be decorated. The experience can be personal and fun, so here are a few ideas that you can use as inspiration for decorating a baby room.
Ideas for Decorating Baby Room
Decorating a baby's room is an enjoyable process for any expectant parents. Most people decide on a theme or color scheme depending upon the gender of the baby. However, if you don't know or don't want to know the gender of your unborn child, you could stick to neutral themes and colors, such as Winnie the Pooh or animals in bright colors.

Another aspect to keep in mind is the life span of the theme. If you really want a theme that will be appropriate for a longer period of time, pick a less babyish theme. These can include an alphabet theme, and forest or animal themes too. Themes that would have a longer shelf life in your baby boy's room include super heroes, evergreen cartoon characters, etc. Girl themes with the same value include gardens, flowers, tea parties, etc.

One way to decorate a baby's room is to allow a neutral color on the walls to be your canvas. With this as your base, one can simply add on decorations, motifs, posters and toys. The advantage here is that the look of the room can be changed without undertaking any major renovation work. While decorating a baby nursery, almost every item in the room can be incorporated to constitute the theme. Remember to include the crib, paint color, borders, wallpaper, murals, furniture, cabinet color, knick knacks, and the art and photos into the theme.

It is also possible to decorate a room on a budget. If this is the approach you need to take, the first step is to remember that your baby does not need to have everything new. Try to spend lesser on the things that your baby will use for a very short period of time, and invest in those that will last longer. Use your creativity to create motifs and decorations for your baby's room, and you will have a one-of-a-kind custom-made room.

Animated Movie Theme
Ideas for decorating your baby's room include using a popular animated flick for a theme. If you use The Bee Movie, you can use cutouts of the bees and paste flowers on the walls. These bright colored decorations can be complemented with bee toys. A Finding Nemo theme will allow you to use colorful fish and a cool underwater theme. If you use A Bug's Life, you could incorporate bees, ants, frogs and reptiles into the room. Try to find and buy a Bug Off Table and Chair Set, bug bed linens, and a frog lamp.

Fairy World Theme
Most children spend their childhood lost in a world of fairies and elves. This theme is ideal for a baby girl's room and will transport her to a world filled with magic. If you need inspiration, pick up any Enid Blyton book about fairies and you'll get plenty of ideas. Include pixies, fairies, toadstools and blue skies and clouds on the walls. Add transparent wings, sparkling wands, and silvery magic dust wherever possible.

Forest Theme
Another baby room design idea is a forest theme. This easy-to-create theme can be put together with a colorful jungle border, or try a jungle area rug. Other add-ons can include butterfly cutouts, colorful stuffed birds and soft fabric snakes. You can also buy animal pillows or those with jungle prints and use themed accessories.

Ocean
Among the tips for decorating baby room is to use shades of blue for the wall, sand colors on the base of the wall and floor, and clouds on the top of the walls and on the ceiling. You could add palm tree cutouts and use shells and starfish accessories.

Enjoy the process of doing up your baby's room. Since your unborn child has no preferences as yet, you could use the ideas you love. Borrow baby room design ideas from magazines or your friend's homes. If you don't have the time or the finances to decorate very elaborately, remember that it wont make a difference to your baby. As long as your child receives your love and care, it will be perfectly happy.
