I Wish I Could

I wish I could fly
Like a bird up in the sky.
Being able to see the wonders
Of nature around me
From mountains high
And seas so deep.

I wish I could be like the sun
So warm, so bright
Like a diamond
Shining far and wide.

I wish I could be like a river
Wild and free
Tumbling and rumbling
Along in time.

I wish I could be like a waterfall
So high and tall.
Falling, falling freely down.

I wish I could be like a star
In a dark, night sky.
Twinkling and winking
Being part of the mighty universe and all.

But I am just me
And perhaps that’s how it’s meant to be.
