"I'll Have the Caviar, and a Wrinkle Cream"

An in-depth look at how anti-wrinkle creams are going to extreme levels to market to customers by using off-the-wall ingredients such as caviar. Do these ingredients provide any anti-aging value?
The anti-aging industry is growing by leaps and bounds. Baby boomers are getting to the age where wrinkles are starting to become a concern. Dark circles are starting to form under the eyes. We wake up with eye bags and eye puffiness on occasion. This gives off the notion that we aren't living healthy. Due to this, manufacturers of anti-aging wrinkle creams and formulas have gone to drastic levels in order to market products to people in need of them. Recent formulas have included caviar as an ingredient. Here is a closer look

Skin care giant La Prairie has released the latest luxury skin care line with it's caviar and sea protein extract line. With claims like "results in minutes," the company tries to lure customers into buying their products on the aspect of complete weirdness. With products like "Essence Of Skin Caviar Eye Complex :Instant Firming Eye Energizer," the company makes statements such as "Firms and retexturizes skin instantly Penetrates easily without residue." Now, these statements are generally made about any anti-aging product, but when you look at the $1,000 sticker price of this line, it makes you think twice about it.

Skin care companies will go the extra mile to differentiate their product from the rest of the pack. One company, Oro Gold Cosmetics, has an entire line of skin care products that are based on the antioxidant properties of the gold ingredient. While these products look and feel tremendous, they actually work. They make their line of skin care products different as they make products such as facial masks, deep peels, and even an acne prevention mask that you wear on your face. They dress their product up to the nines, and it comes in a nice box with embossed letters, making the product stand out versus any other product out there. It's really a well presented product that even does well with wholesalers who sell it in local mall kiosks.

Lastly, you have an eye cream made by a company called Elite Serum. This eye cream is turning heads with it's use of powerful lab-tested ingredients and adding antioxidant-rich ingredients to the formula such as acai berry extract and resveratrol. While those two ingredients need no introduction, they provide a solid nucleus of antioxidants in the formula. People are raving about this product all over the web. It's won various awards across health portals already, and it's been a very popular product thus far in 2009.

It appears skin care companies will go to any level to keep up the product differentiation. Skin care guru's are getting smart, and the products just keep getting better. I can't wait to see what they come up with next!
