I Want Them Back

I want my mom and dad,
My real mom and dad,
I want them to be alive,
I want to know them.

I want to be a daughter,
Of someone who loves me,
I want to make them proud,
I want to make them happy.

I don't understand why they were taken,
Why?
I don't understand!
How come they were able to die!

I don't get why we had to leave them,
Why they were taken from our life,
And then not long after,
They're gone, from left to right.

Our family got separated,
Two sisters in another state,
Two others live with me,
But how was that fair?
Doesn't anyone see?

Mom died in an accident, drunk driving,
Dad of drug overdose,
Why did they have to be taken away?

I wish I could feel them close,
I wish they were here,
To tell me to do better in school,
To tell me I can't date yet,
To make me follow rules,
Instead of my adoptive parents,
Who don't seem to appreciate us at all.

I guess, I gotta deal with it now,
Slowly, like a crawl,
I just want my mum and dad back,
It's too bad, it's too much to ask.
