I Thought You Were My Best Friend - Chapter Four
Intense chapter. Remember teens drinking and driving is no joke and it's not safe same with texting and driving. Always be safe.
Jay's P.O.V
I giggled and rested my head on Blake's shoulder. I closed my eyes and kept dancing. When I opened my eyes I saw something that made my tummy turn. I quickly ran to the washroom and puked my guts out. "Hey Jay you ok?" Blake asked concerned. "Yeah I think I drank too much." I quietly said trying to hide the truth. He tied up my hair and helped me get up. "Want me to drive you home hunny?" Blake asked. "No it's okay the night just started let's go get wasted!" I said trying to forget about what I saw.
The party kept going till 2 a.m, by then I was dead wasted and so was everyone else. "Let's go home I'll drive." Blake said drunkly. "Noo but we're wasted!" I giggled not knowing what I was doing. "Naw I only had a few don't worry." Blake re-assured me. "Okay let's go to my place." I said. We both got in the car and drove off. "Jay?" Blake said. "Yes Blake what's up?" I asked obviously tired and still drunk. "I love you.." He awkwardly stated. He stared at me for the longest time. "Blake!!" I yelled, I saw bright lights. And that was the last thing I remembered.
Blake's P.O.V
I woke up and felt as if I had a million bruises. It hurt to breathe. I opened my eyes to see my mom crying. "Mom? What happened to me?" I asked in pain noticing that I was in the hospital. "You drove back from the party drunk with Jay and you guys got into a car accident." My mom said shedding more tears. I closed my eyes and remembered that night.
I told her I loved her. I stared at her to see her reaction and that's when I swiveled off to the other lane and this big S.U.V didn't notice us. Jay yelled when she saw the bright lights. BAM, we crashed and Jay was crying in pain. "Blake promise me something?" Jay whispered. "Anything." I answered. "Best Friends forever even if one of us doesn't make it okay?" Jay said then kept quiet. I felt so dizzy, and after that all I could remember were how the ambulance first took Jay as if she wasn't going to make it.
I opened my eyes and cried. "Mom where's Jay!" I yelled. "She's in a coma, both of you have been in a coma for two days. No one knows when she's going to wake up." My mom whispered. I cried silently and prayed for Jay. This was all my fault for being so irresponsible. How could I do this to my best friend! I calmed down and went back to sleep.
*Beep Beep* my alarm rang. Bah time to get up for summer school. 4 days have passed and Jay was still in a coma and I haven't gone visit her. I was scared. Everyday I went to school I felt so alone without her. She was on my mind twenty four seven. I love her! I really do! I brushed my teeth put on my clothes and ran to the closest bus stop. I hooped on the bus and headed to the hospital. It was time to go see her. I arrived and quietly made my way into her room. I sat next to her and held her hand.
"Jay, you probably can't hear me but I'm sorry. I am so irresponsible! I can't believe I did this to you! I love you, I've always loved you. Your smile, your eyes, it all just makes my heart skip a beat. You are intelligent and funny and I'm lucky to have you as a friend. I love you best friend." I said and kissed her cheek. I stayed at the hospital the whole day. Her parents came a few times to check up on her and so did her friends but they had to leave for work or school. Her mom was really upset she wouldn't stop crying. I assured her that everything will be okay. I don't understand why Jay's mom didn't hate me, I mean I DID do this to her daughter. I stayed with Jay for two days before my mom came to get me. "Blake hunny you have to go to summer school." My mom said. "Not until she wakes up! She's been in this coma forever mom! I need to be here with her! I love her!" I yelled and shed a few tears. I held Jay's hand and wiped away my tears and kissed her hand. "Hmm." Jay hummed. I froze and looked over to her. She opened her eyes and looked at me. "You have beautiful eyes." Jay said and smiled. I smiled back at her and kissed her hand.
"What's your name? Who are you?" Jay asked. I froze once again and called for the doctor. "Well she doesn't remember anything but her memory should be back in a few months or so." The doctor said. Jay's mom and dad bawled there eyes out. I just stood there shocked. "I'm sorry." Jay said. "It's not your fault hunny." Jay's mom said and smiled up at Jay. I walked up to Jay and hugged her. "I know you, you're my best friend right?" Jay asked me. "Yes I am and I'm going to be with all the way till you remember your memory." I said and smiled up at her. "Thanks best friend." She said like old times. "No problemo now let's get you home, I'm sure you want to go see your room." I said and asked her parents for a ride to their place. "So this is your lovely room, your favorite color is green, you love to read and your other best friend is Trey Spades. He shall be coming anytime soon. Oh and this is your phone." I said and handed her the iPhone. She grabbed it and stuck it in her pocket. "Did I have a crush on you? Because well you are very handsome" Jay said. "Haha well I don't know. See we were childhood friends when we were 3 and you moved when you were 14. I just recently moved here and we just started to re-unite." I said and laughed. She giggled and hugged me. "Well I think you are very handsome and a great best friend." She whispered.
By the end of the night we were exhausted. Trey and a bunch of her other friends came earlier but said there good-byes. "Mr. & Mrs. C can I crash here for the night?" I yawned and asked. "Of course, you can stay in Jay's room, maybe it will help her remember the good old times." Mrs. C said. We said our good nights and headed to sleep.
The past 2 weeks went by quick. Jay was remembering small things but she did good in summer school, she aced her exams and it was finally REAL summer. "Blake? Jay? Is that you guys?" Trey asked. "Yea man open the door." I said and laughed. "So what's the big surprise Trey?" Jay asked. Was it me or was Jay constantly flirting with Trey? Looks like she really likes him. "Well I bought 3 tickets to go back to Jersey, you know your hometown? Maybe it'll bring back memories." He said and smiled. "Great idea Trey!" Jay and I said together.
Jay's P.O.V
Finally after 2 days it was time to go to Jersey my hometown! I don't remember anything but I hope it brings back memories. It was only a 4 hour flight. When we arrived we checked into our hotel and rested for a while. Blake and I were sharing a bed while Trey got the other bed for himself. "So tomorrow where should we go first?" I asked. "Well we could go out for lunch but then I'm going out to dinner with some family friends that I have here so it'll only be you two." Trey said and smiled up at me. "Oh okay well I'm going to sleep good night guys." I fell asleep to the sound of music from my iPhone.
When I woke up I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and took a shower. We all got dressed and headed out for lunch. "Well lunch was great guys but I have to get going, Have fun!" Trey said and left the restaurant. "How bout we head back to the hotel and rest then go out for dinner?" I suggested. "Sure sounds good!" Blake said. When we got to the hotel we decided to go for a swim in the pool. I put on my bikini and headed down to the pool where I found Blake. Oh hot damn, he looks so good without a shirt. He had a 6 pack! I kept checking him out till I heard him cough. "You like what you see eh?" Blake asked and winked. I just blushed and dipped my feet in the pool. We decided to leave at 4 and take showers. By the time we both finished it was 5. We chilled for a bit and by 6:30 we decided to get ready for dinner. I put on a tight green short dress and Blake but on dress pants with a tight armani exchange shirt. He sure did have huge muscles. When we got to the restaurant we both ordered past.
"I had a great time today Blake." I said and smiled. "Me too Jay." He said and held my hand. We walked to a park. I knew this place. "We always used to come here and swing on the swings." He said and hopped on the swing. I sat on the other one. "Let's see who can go higher!" He yelled. "Ok it 's on!" I giggled. "Okay now let's jump off!" I giggled we both jumped off and landed on the grass. I was lying on the grass looking at the stars. Blake laid beside me. "The stars are beautiful." I whispered "Yes you are." Whispered Blake. I looked at him and decided to go on top of him. "Have I ever told you that I love your eyes?" I asked him and leaned closer. "Yes." He said out of breath and kissed me.
My body was in shock. My memory it all came back. "Blake!" I screamed and giggled. "Blake Blake Blake!" I kept laughing and kissed him again. "Remember the summer of 2002 when we went to Green timbers cabin? Or when we had our first kiss here? How bout the time where we laughed so hard we almost pee'd ourselves in my tree house. Remember Remember!" I asked. "Jay you remember? You remember everything!" He laughed and picked me up then he frowned. "Have your feelings towards me changed now that your memory is back?" He asked me. "No silly willy! I love you and I want you." I whispered in his ear. I kissed him with more passion this time. "Blake let's go back to the hotel." I said and grabbed his hands. We got back and laid in bed. We started kissing again and everything got more passionate. "I think it's time." I said out of breath. "Hunny I don't think so." Blake replied.
