I Think I'll Scream
This is a fun poem about life from a 2-year-old's perspective.
I run to the cabinets
like I did last night.
But here I am—
Oh! What a plight!
They all used to open
and close with ease.
Cabinet locks are on the doors—
I think I’ll scream!!!
It is so pretty.
It is so fun.
I can splash the water.
Look! Mom sees her son.
Goodbye white bowl.
Now that’s a little extreme.
No more bathroom fun—
I think I’ll scream!!!
Oh! Its a mountain!
I can climb so high!
I wonder if Mom is
up there in the sky?
Why, yes, she is!
Maybe we’ll be a team.
No! She grabs me from the stairs—
I think I’ll scream!!!
Colors! Colors!
So pretty and bright!
Sister must have left you
here last night.
The walls would look better
with color it seems.
Sister grabs them away—
I think I’ll scream!!!
I am so busy.
I’m playing with a cow.
Mom wants to change me,
but I can’t stop now.
First I’ll lead a merry chase
Then she’ll wrestle me
When all else fails and fails—
I think I’ll scream!!!
Spaghetti on the window.
Spaghetti on the floor.
Spaghetti on Daddy’s shirt.
Knock! Who’s at the door?
Daddy’s no longer
aware of me,
and I am done with dinner—
I think I’ll scream!!!
like I did last night.
But here I am—
Oh! What a plight!
They all used to open
and close with ease.
Cabinet locks are on the doors—
I think I’ll scream!!!
