I Think - About The Power of Words
Ever thought about how a single word or phrase can evoke diverse emotions and expressions? These APTs as I call them (alphabets-put-together) are potent and capable of much damage or repair...
When a person gets angry with another, while one is in attack mode the other is on the defensive. At this point in time, the mere mention of "Get out and never show me your face again", empowers the speaker, but totally demoralizes the listener. They may patch up after a day or two, but the damage is done, and irrevocable.
On the other hand, "I am really proud of you", empowers both the people involved in the interaction. Nevertheless, when faced with a difficult situation on account of another person, ire is the most common outburst. The impact of physical violence may last for a while, but emotional damage through the use of abusive and derogatory words and terms lasts forever. Think about it...
Have you ever wondered why, whenever you are in the company of someone who may have abused you years back, the memory still lingers? Forgive and Forget is easier said than done.
FORGIVE...YES, BUT FORGET...? Very difficult.
These APTs suddenly transform the best of living spaces into hell and make even a hut seem like heaven. It is true, no doubt, that they are essential forms of communication. What would we do without them? Unimaginable. In fact, it wouldn't be wrong to say that words amply support our claim to being 'civilized' or of the 'highest order'.
It is not very difficult to see the potent in challenging and abusive words. Just look around, across the globe, and you will be able to find examples by the millions. We react almost instantly to words. While a word of friendship or praise evokes a very healthy and conducive-to-growth atmosphere, one of ire or hatred results in the surfacing of a conducive-to-destruction environment.
Also, have you ever thought about how words don't fade away, but seem to linger on...somewhere in the ether! Words full of hatred fed into empty minds years back still trigger a war or a head-hunt. Anger and hatred really do eat us up from within. They are such strong forces and we, humans, are not even designed to tolerate the heat and destruction they harbor. Nevertheless, we are getting there. Again, think about it...
All over the world, people are getting immune to abuse and hatred. So many lives in conflict and pain, but no one is willing to battle the forces as one. Common political issues that plague everyone's existence are being dealt with individually, by different nations, and from a different perspective. Slowly, the cancer is setting in.
WE ARE EITHER LED BY WORDS IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION OF DEVELOPMENT OR LED AWAY UNDER THEIR INFLUENCE, TOWARDS SELF-MUTILATION AND DISHARMONY.
What is wrong with us?
How can we be so insensitive?
Words are our creations. A simple line of thought before you insensitively blurt out some verbal garbage will empower you with a better life – for yourself and others around.
Think before you speak and sound...
There is enough garbage all around.
