I Think - About God

Funny how there are so many answers to the 'chicken or egg' query, and yet we readily denounce belief systems that do not appeal to our line of thought. I think about the concept of God and delusional humans...
I Think - About God
There is always much debate on the concept of God. Believers from every faith refuse to entertain any scientific explanation or conformity. On the other hand, those who are non-believers just can't make any sense of the concept. Both groups view each other with distrust and clash in ideology that is abstract and made baseless by 'self-proclaimed all-knowing ones' on either side of the fence. There is a void.

WHAT IS 'GOD'?

IS HE/SHE/IT REALLY SOMEWHERE BEYOND THE CLOUDS?

DOES 'GOD' HAVE A FORM?

HAS ANYONE SEEN 'GOD'?

WHAT IS 'GOD-FEARING'?

These questions plague quite a few of us. However, one thing is for sure –

GOD IS A GREAT BLAME-UPON CONCEPT!

For believers, when something goes wrong, before even checking into the lack of effort put in or the cause for the upset, it becomes the 'Will of God'. Of course this makes it easier on the pain and frame of mind. Nevertheless, the throngs that harass 'God' for favors outdo those who go in thanksgiving; and that is something to think about. In the case of non-believers, the concept of God is distant and baseless. Nevertheless, they are unable to unanimously agree upon the reasons for duality in life, the unequal distribution of life and resources etc. Their blame-upon concept is science and many a time, vague reasoning! What beats me is the conviction shown by both sides.

From early times, since recorded history, people have wondered about the many forms of life and the powers of the elements. Some went on to dig into the intricacies involved, while some saw divine intervention. Either ways the wonders are empowering and life itself is a mystery. Science cannot create a flower in a laboratory and neither can the believer ignore the electronic media that has helped him connect and further interests. Then, where does the conflict arise?

WHY CAN'T WE BE TOLERANT OF ONE ANOTHER AND BELIEF SYSTEMS?

WHY DO 'I' ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ON THE 'RIGHT' SIDE?

DOES IT MATTER AT ALL?

Whether the Big Bang appeals to us or the creation stories from around the world, why must we behave like fanatics and insist that ours is the 'right' way? It is this intolerance and narrow mindedness that is causing much conflict in the name of religion. I remember reading the following quote on a souvenir:

Look on the world as a big fruit cake...it wouldn't be complete without a few nuts in it!

Somehow the truth behind the concept stuck with me and I have seen the powerful meaning unfold a number of times and in various situations.

Coming back to 'God'. What appeals to me, may not appeal to you...but that is alright! Why does it have to be an issue? Do we really need to waste time in conversion of thought or embark upon a proving-spree every time the topic comes up.

THERE IS A POWER AND IT IS UNDENIABLE. Let science explain the human anatomy when alive, any different when declared 'dead'. Science can explain and study the parts of a plant, but can it generate chlorophyll in its purest form in a laboratory? If science boasts about creating water as H2O in the laboratory, why can't it solve the scarcity we are racing towards? How does science explain near-death experiences and the paranormal? Putting them down to hallucination is the easy way out.

Similarly, believers cannot deny science and the many explanations it has churned out through the years. Why must we impose our beliefs on one another? Understanding that 'unexplainable power' as 'God', religions have spun around it. People who preferred a certain system, ritual or certain concepts of moral and ethical conduct accepted the commonality and 'religion' was born.

RELIGIOUS FANATICS AND SCIENTISTS, BOTH GET STUCK ON THE 'WHO CAME FIRST – THE EGG OR THE CHICKEN' INTRIGUE.

Our belief in 'God' or otherwise does not deny us life and the right to inhabit the planet. We need to be more flexible and accept each other as we are. To me, 'God' is that which connects me to another human being. The wrenching I feel when I see a dog being stoned, is God. The bliss I feel at the opportunity to reach out to the less privileged, animal or human, is God.

If believing and communicating with the 'power' adds quality to your life, great. If it doesn't, you are still my brother.
