I Shall Be Released
A prophet of doom?

And still I try to pretend,
While the hypocrites lock their doors from the truth,
As the storm clouds start to descend,
The Whore's being raped by the Beast,
As the city crumbles to the ocean,
While they hide inside their blind eyes,
I see the attack of Four Horsemen!
I stake my claim in a wiser mind,
Free from all propaganda,
While you sleep upon their disbelief,
And kowtow to their agenda,
A moral code that holds no morals,
The prudent handling of your affairs,
They bleed you dry in your ignorance,
And you're only too willing to share!
Harken to the words of the false propheteers,
They'll sell you a wish for your soul,
At a bargain basement price...
Ah but then, you're the one who's been sold,
Traded in the slavery of commerce,
With full pomp and circumstance of ceremony,
And you don't even know that you're on your knees,
With a wish to share in their lottery!
Wormwood's politicians hold the aces in their hands,
As you try to play your joker,
But you can never fool the fool,
He's always one step ahead of the laughter,
Raised by the vanity of his own humor,
He plays the game you think you'll win,
He deals the hand that keeps you occupied,
The hand of deadly sin!
The Serpent spreads His venomous pestilence,
To starve you of your dignity,
In the dog eat dog war for control,
There is no honor in envy,
And you strive in your pride to please the man,
That you may share in His illusion,
Of one for all, and all for one,
The motto of His false constitution!
So wear the emblem of brotherhood,
In homage to a knowledge you don't understand,
You're not allowed to read between the lines,
But brainwashed to follow by command,
A dangerous liaison with conformity,
To be seen but not to be heard,
The unsung hero, the bit part player,
Never mentioned, never referred!
And still I cradle the myth in my hand,
But it is not me who pretends,
I merely peruse my own understanding,
And that understanding I shall defend,
And I hold allegiance to no one,
Nor shall I impose my beliefs,
For when the Four Horsemen spread their sloth,
I shall be released!
