I Love You From Here to the Horizon

There are times when my thoughts of you refuse to stay in the background. It could be triggered by a phrase someone uses, something that you used to say. It could be a smile that vaguely resembled yours, or a certain look.

Whatever the case, my heart would stop and I would be reminded of the emptiness inside me. You made my heart ten sizes too big. But that was needed to capture a fraction of the love I had for you. Then you left and now it’s cold, lonely, and uninviting.

There are some days when I’m not sure if I miss you or the idea of you or if I just need a filler of that void. Believe me, I’ve tried filling that void but now I understand that void is molded into the shape of you. I don’t know if that’s ever going to change but it’s ok.

You seem happy now and in a way that makes me happy too. So, here I am and you’re on the horizon. That distance between us will probably never shorten but please know that I will stand here and I will always be waiting because nothing else completes me.
