I Love You Ch. 1

INTRO:
You may not know this, but I don't believe in love. What is 'love', anyway? Love is just a fake emotion people believe is real, for some odd reason. How come people believe in love you ask? Because they so desperately want it to be real, to know how it feels to 'truly be in love'. Well, I say crap for that. It's not real. And you should know the truth.
"I love you"....that saying is used way too much and not enough. I hate when people say that and don't mean it...I hate when people use that saying loosely without any true feelings at all. But you know what's really sick? When someone makes you fall in love, makes you care for them, and then totally breaks your heart. I'VE learned to deal with it. I'VE learned to not let challenges get in the way of your life. I'VE learned that sometimes, it's best to be alone.
My story, it's a typical one. Silent, quiet girl gets jocks attention. They 'date' for a little while and she 'falls' for him and then out of nowhere, he breaks up and everything 'returns to normal'...but, it didn't. It never did.
I Really Hate You Ch.1:
"Ava, please come down here! Please?" My mom called up to me for the billionth time, trying to get me to go to the mall with her.
"No, mom. For the last time, NO." I yelled back, ignoring her completely.
My mom, I loved her to death, but, she could be so naive at times. She had the looks, the perfect lips, perfect hair, perfect body. She had everything. A good husband, three loving kids, and a pet to wrap up the whole 'ideal family' look. Yet, she seemed distant, like she was still searching for something.
A door opened and closed, I heard my dad's footsteps as he walked swiftly over to my mom. "I love you, Marie."
I could almost picture her smiling. "I love you, too, Jim."
I used to be one of those typical girls. I dreamed of being a princess and having my prince sweep me off my feet. But my dreams all came crashing to the ground when this guy broke my heart. My "boyfriend" had told me he loved me. And, being the naïve, stupid person I was, I believed him. He almost succeeded in...you know...when I drew the line and said, "I can't do this." And I ran out. He only wanted me for my body. I was a joke, everyone made fun of me because I was quiet and didn't put myself 'out-there.' I learned from then not to trust anyone. Not to let anyone in close to my heart...because, eventually, the world all comes crashing.
I'm broken from my train of thought as my little sister, Jill Joann, runs into my room crying.
"Aww, what's wrong this time, JJ?" I said, picking her up and letting her sit on my lap.
JJ had silky red-brown hair and cute little 7-year-old eyes. Big, round ones that let her get anything she wanted. She had a voice, a melodic voice, that caught your attention in a nanosecond. I, on the other hand, look like Hayley Williams. It's kind of funny, I look like her AND I have the same name. People sometimes come up to me and say, "Whoah are you related to Hayley Williams?" And I'll be like, 'Nooo."
"Hailey, Hailey! Are you listening to me?" JJ wriggled in my lap trying to get my attention.
"Yes, JJ. What do you want?"
"I had a nightmare." She frowns and sticks her thumb in her mouth.
I took her hand and placed it in her lap. "You know you're too old for that now. Don't you want to be a big girl?"
She pouted and looked up at me. "But, Sissy, can't you make the nightmares go away?"
I sighed, we had this conversation practically every night. "Come on, JJ. Let's tuck you in."
*^*^*^*^*^*^*
The next morning came fast. My mom called me downstairs, shrieking like a chicken with its head cut off...if the chicken could scream. "HAILEY! GET DOWN HERE THIS INSTANT!"
I didn't understand why she couldn't just come up to my room and have a quiet, calm conversation rather than yelling her head off and waking up the whole house. I got dressed and slowly went down the stairs, still groggy from being woken up. "What do you want, mom?"
She huffed, still angry. "You need to come down, RIGHT NOW!"
I rolled my eyes, my mom was such a drama queen. "Alright."
A few minutes later I run down the stairs. "What, mom?"
Her nose flared. "What. Is. The. Meaning. Of. This.?" She held up a blank sheet of paper.
I groaned inwardly. Cautiously I asked, "W-what did I get?"
She made a big show and said, "Well, let's take a look.
English : F
P.E : A
Math : D+
Science : F-
Elective : Fail
And so on, and so on.
"Sorry, mom. I'll try harder next time."
"No! You know what? You keep telling me, and telling me that and it's not true! You're not trying hard enough! Do I need to get you a tutor?"
"NO, mom! I'm perfectly fine, okay? I'll get my grades up...I promise."
She put her hands on her hips. "And if you don't?"
I sighed. "If I don't, you can have your way."
She smiled a genuine smile, which pissed me off. "Don't be so sure that it'll work out, mom."
*^*^*^*^*^*^*
"Ay, Hailey." Justin, one of my best friends, called out to me.
"Hey, Justin."
He looked questioningly at me, "What's with you?"
"Same old, same old."
"Oh..."
"JUSTIN!" My other best friend, Natalie, walked over to us and Justin wrapped his arm around her waist. With this being our last year of high school, Justin finally got the guts to ask out Natalie, who had been in love with him forever. He was just too dumb to realize it.
"Hey, Nat." He said, kissing her lightly on the forehead.
She sighed in contentedness. "Love you, too."
They had been in the "honeymoon phase" for a while now. She kept saying 'I love you' forever. But, the funny thing to me was, she meant it.
He smiled lovingly at her. "Love you, too, Nat. With all my heart."
She smiled all gushy at him and he leaned down and kissed her. I broke them up before it got too heated. "Hey, guys? Your best friend Hailey is still here!"
He pulled back and she gave me the evil eye after he placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Huh! Jeez, Hails, I can't kiss my boyfriend?"
He laughed and hugged her closer. "Just be kind, Nat, she doesn't know what it's like to have a hot boyfriend like me." At the last part he flexed his muscles like Superman.
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's go, the bell is going to ring soon."
I went to my locker to grab the books I needed for first period and hurried on my way until I felt the ground hit my butt. WTF?
"Hey, Hails. How's it going?"
