I Long to be Free
For the child in us, so we may never forget that we were once children and the simple things we enjoyed then are much better than the expensive things we work for today.......
Wishing I was free to go roam;
Circumstances have shackled me to this chair,
But Oh! How I wish I could go home!
It is indeed a big bad world,
That gives friends no time to care;
Keeping everyone too busy with life,
To notice a heart in despair!
Sitting all alone most of the time,
I long for the days of yesteryear;
The joys and endless happiness,
When friends to us were dear!
But time goes on, Oh! Ever so fast,
Causing friends to drift far apart;
For reasons that seem so petty indeed,
Bringing only sorrow to the heart!
I wish those days lasted forever,
Days with no tension and worry;
Days where friendship meant something,
Days that have gone by in a hurry!
What wouldn't I give to go back in time,
And relive those glorious golden years;
I know deep down I ask the impossible,
And the thought, it brings me tears!
But one grows up and responsibility arrives,
And the time to be carefree is gone;
All alone the rouge world to face,
And for the younger days to mourn!
Shackled to this chair each day I sit,
Though the heart longs to be free;
There is no choice once you grow up,
At least there is none for me!
