I Know You But How - Chapters 16 to 18

Everyone travels to the castle.
Chapter 16 - (Journey to the castle)

A few days later, taking it to a week, I was doing much better. I had gotten to the point where I could be around humans without trying to attack them. Since that was the case, everyone knew it was time to travel to the castle. Some of the servants went and got Emma and Lawrence out of their cell, to take them to one of the horse-drawn carriages that would take us all to a ship that would ultimately take us to the castle. Over the past few days, at different points, either I or Amiel had gone to the cell where Emma and Lawrence were and had told them exactly how we felt. They really hadn't seemed to care at all. I doubted they ever would.

On the day that we were going to the castle, It had taken me a bit of time to decide on what I wanted to wear for the trip. I looked through all my dresses, more than once, before deciding on a lavender colored dress. Once I was in the dress, and in the shoes, and it was made sure that I had everything I wanted to bring with me, I went and left Gustave's room along with him. We went and found Mirabelle, Bernier and Amiel and then went and headed for our own horse-drawn carriage. As we did, I looked over and noticed that Mirabelle was wearing a purple dress to, just a different shade and style. I also noticed that all the men were, again, wearing dark suits.

After walking for a bit, we all ended up outside and were soon helped into the carriage. Our belongings were stored in the carriage and we were soon on our way. It took a while for us to get to where the ship was docked. Pretty much the whole time was spent talking or watching the scenery go by. At different points I daydreamed of what it would be like to be married to Gustave.

After a couple of days, us arriving at night just like when we'd left, we made it to the dock and got out of the carriage. We waited for Emma and Lawrence to be brought onto the ship first, and chained up below, as well as waited for our belongings to be brought onto the ship. We then went and boarded the ship. I knew there were some humans on board, but only ones who worked for Gustave and his family. So, I knew I didn't have to worry about anyone getting suspicious of us all.

Once on the ship we went and found cabins to take. Once Gustave and I had a room, Mirabelle and Bernier had theirs and Amiel had his, we went and made sure everything was in our rooms and I asked Gustave about walking around the ship for a while. He agreed and we walked around for a while. At one point, it started to get light out and Gustave and I watched the sunrise. At one point, though, I was a bit tired so I went and walked back to the cabin we were sharing.

Over the next 4 or 5 days the time was spent walking around the ship, feeding, talking more about the wedding, and watching the sunset and sunrise. At one point, I noticed the castle coming into view from a distance. I knew we'd be there really soon and I was glad. I wanted to get there. Being on the ship was nice, but it was a bit limiting. At one point during the ride on the ship, I'd asked Gustave why we had to travel by ship and he told me that if we didn't and a human saw us flying it wouldn't be good. He also said that it took a god amount of energy to fly and that we'd have to find somewhere to rest at different points. So, it was definitely better to travel by ship.

After a while we got to the dock, which was around the castle, and everyone got off. Once everything and everyone was off the ship, we went and got into the vehicles that had been sent for us and headed for the castle. Once there, and the fancy car had stopped, I got out and looked up at the castle for a while. Eventually, as everything was being brought into the castle, as well as Emma and Lawrence being brought in as well, the rest of us went and headed into the castle.

Once in the castle, I asked for a tour and was gladly given one. At one point, after being shown around the lavish castle, I was brought to the areas where the wedding and reception would be held. When I saw how things were decorated, I gasped. It was exactly how I wanted it. The chairs, flowers, rugs and wall coverings in the area, where the wedding was going to happen, were red and/or purple. The only thing that wasn't red or purple was the runner. In the reception area the table cloths and place settings were royal blue, the chairs were either white or red, and everything else, like the flowers and paintings, was a combination of colors. I was so thrilled and felt like she wanted to marry Gustave right then and there. I knew that wouldn't be able to happen, yet, though. There were still more wedding preparations to be done like my dress fitting, Gustave deciding on what he was going to wear, us both deciding who would be in the wedding party and whom to invite.

After seeing how everything was decorated, a question came to mind. I couldn't remember if I'd asked this before or if I'd been told about it so I was definitely going to ask. I looked at Gustave and said, "I have a question for you. Are we able to eat food?"

There was a little bit of silence, as if he wasn't completely sure how to answer that question. Eventually he said, "We, vampires, can eat a small amount of food if we choose. However, blood is what we need to survive. I myself prefer not to eat food."

He paused then said, "On special occasions, however, I , and other vampires, will have both blood and food."

I smiled when I heard what Gustave said, and said, "Wonderful! I am very glad we can still eat food. We will have to decide what we want for the reception."

He chuckled then said, "Yes, of course. There is still much to be done before the wedding."

I nodded then said, "I know." I looked at Mirabelle and said, "I would love to try on my wedding dress. I'm sure there will be some kind of alterations that will have to be done to it. There is also deciding who will be my Maid of Honor, how many bridesmaids I want to have and who they will be as well as..."

Mirabelle interrupted me, and said, with a smile, "Yes, yes. I know. We can start working on what we need to do, while the men work on their side of things."

Not too long after that was said, and I excused myself as well as said goodbye to Gustave, Mirabelle and I went and headed for where the wedding dress I was borrowing was being stored. Once we got there, I went and tried on the dress, with some help. After that there was some measuring, pinning and altering that took place as well as additional times of trying on the dress. After that there was the discussion about the Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids as well as looking at different styles of dresses and deciding on which one I wanted them to wear. I wasn't totally sure completely about who I wanted to be my Bridesmaids, but I knew I wanted Cerise to be my Maid of Honor. In the time I had been in the mansion that Gustave had built for me, I had become friends with Cerise. I also had another idea.

At one point, I looked over at Mirabelle and said, "Mirabelle, I am not sure how you will think of this, but I think Emma and Lawrence should be involved in the wedding in some way."

Mirabelle was silent for a short time, before she asked, "Why in the world would you want them to be a part of your wedding?"

I smiled and said, "What better way to punish them? They both did not want the wedding to take place. What better way to show them that they were wrong and that they can't stop my and Gustave's happiness?"

Mirabelle was silent for a little while then said, "Yes, I think that would definitely be a more fitting punishment than staying in the dungeon. You will have to discuss it with Gustave as well."

I nodded my head then said, "Yes, of course."

After that was said, things that could be confirmed were and then we went and left the room we were in. After that Gustave, Bernier and Amiel were found and I asked Gustave if I could talk to him. We then went and walked away from the others and I let him know about the conversation I had with Mirabelle. He hadn't really hesitated much with giving an answer and had thought it was a good idea too. After that, there was more talking, with everybody, for the rest of the day. Once it started getting late, everyone went to their rooms so we all could rest. I was given a room right next to Gustave's. All of my things, that I'd brought with me, had already been put in it. At first I slept in that room, well, more like attempted to sleep there, but eventually got out of the Queen size bed and headed for Gustave's room. I then went and lay beside him and fell asleep.

Chapter 17

More preparation and getting closer to the wedding.

***********************************************************
For the rest of the time, until a couple of days before the wedding, there was a lot more running around. It was also made sure that we all, especially me, fed and didn't let it go too far without doing so. There was also, when there was time, walks around the castle. I liked the castle and was very glad that I would be a Princess once Gustave and I were married. I wasn't completely sure what I'd be doing as a Princess, but I was sure I'd find out soon enough. It didn't completely mater to me, though. As long as I was with Gustave, as long as we were married, that was all that mattered. We deserved to be married and it should've happened many, many years ago. Now, though, very soon, it was going to happen.

After all the running around and everything had been finalized, and there was some free time, I decided that I wanted to play some music. I had noticed a piano, in at least one of the rooms in the castle. I had mentioned to everyone that I felt like playing, since I had some free time, and so we all headed for one of the rooms with a piano. Once there, I went and sat at the piano and started playing. It was a melody that was very pretty and something I had played before. I even remembered playing it when I'd first met Gustave and realized I'd fallen in love with him. Now, though, it would remind me of the time just before the wedding and the song would have even more meaning.

It wasn't just me who decided they wanted to play the piano, though. Gustave and Mirabelle decided they wanted to play music as well. In addition to music being played, there was dancing too. I felt like I wanted that time to both freeze forever and speed up. I wanted to forever be in that moment, but I also wanted the wedding to be there. It felt like things were taking forever to happen. I kept reminding myself that it was only just a couple more days, but I still wanted time to speed up.

For the rest of the day, and for the next day, we continued to play the piano and dance. At one point, though, I wanted to try on my wedding dress again. I had already tried it on several times, but I just couldn't help trying it on again. So, I went and headed for the room I'd been given, and, with some help, put the wedding dress back on. I went and stood in front of the mirror, smiling and tearing up a bit at what I saw. The closer it got to the wedding, the more I wanted to wear the dress and the more emotions going through me. I knew I couldn't wear it forever, though, so I went and got out of the wedding dress and, after I was back in my other dress, I went and left the room and went and found everyone else. We then spent time talking and walking around the castle some more.

Chapter 18 - (The big day and the end of the story)

The day Aleena and Gustave have been waiting for is finally here.

***********************************************************
When it was the night before the wedding, the time suddenly seeming to speed by, I couldn't sleep. I was getting nervous now. I'd wanted time to speed by and now that it seemingly had, I wanted time to slow down. It wasn't that I didn't want to marry Gustave. I definitely did. It was just that I was getting very nervous too. I wanted everything to go well during the wedding and for no one to mess things up. I wanted to be able to be married to Gustave and not have Emma and Lawrence ruin it in some way.

So, for the whole night, I attempted to sleep but to no avail. Eventually, without even realizing it at first, the dawn came and it was the day of our wedding. I practically jumped out of bed, screamed for servants to fix my hair, do my makeup, help me into my dress and make sure my veil was securely on my head. As they were helping me with what needed to be done, though, I wasn't necessarily making things the easiest. They had to keep telling me to hold still. Eventually, though, I was ready and was led out of the room and to an area where I could wait as well as watch my Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids be led down the aisle. I smiled at Cerise, who looked really nice in her lavender dress and said, "I am very glad you didn't mind being a part of our wedding, Cerise."

She smiled and said, "I am very glad that you and Gustave are finally able to get married. I was not about to miss your wedding, especially after you two being separated for so many years."

I nodded and said, "I am very glad for that."

After that was said, there wasn't really time to say anything else. The music, before the wedding march, which was the same song I had been playing a few days earlier, started and Cerise was led down the steps and toward the runner. After that the Bridesmaids, which were a few other women I'd become friends with, were led down the aisle as well. The only one who I hadn't been a friend with, who was in a royal blue and purple dress just like the other Bridesmaids, was Emma. I could tell she wasn't happy at all about being made to be a part of the wedding, but I didn't care. I was thrilled she wasn't happy.

I had looked around and noticed that Lawrence was there too, him being one of the ushers. I didn't really have much time to watch what he was doing, though, because before I knew it, the wedding march was being played and Bernier was escorting me down the steps and then eventually down the aisle. It was something that had been discussed well before this and I definitely hadn't minded it, especially since I didn't have anyone else to do it.

As I was being walked down the aisle, at one point I had noticed Gustave and everything and everyone else seemed to vanish. I only noticed him, in his royal blue suit and matching dress shoes. As I moved closer, I felt like I might faint, but was also ecstatic. Eventually, after what seemed like forever, we were finally at the end of the aisle and Bernier let go of my arm. Not too long after that, the wedding ceremony started. The ceremony was just like any other ceremony except, well, normal ceremonies don't have a bunch of vampires. There was a lot of talking and then we exchanged our vows as well as the rings. It was a little difficult at times, though, to pay attention to what was being said or to get my words out. I actually did, though, and wasn't about to say that I didn't want to marry Gustave.

Pretty soon, we both heard, "You may kiss the bride." When that was heard, my veil was lifted and I was beaming with joy. It wasn't all that long before Gustave kissed me and we were officially man and wife. I could vaguely hear cheering, but it would've been really difficult to even look over at anyone. Especially since Gustave and I were still kissing. Eventually, though, we were reminded where we were and we stopped kissing. Once we did, and we were looking at everyone there, there was an announcement of, "Presenting the Baron and Baroness of Wolfsburg."

When I heard that, I was ecstatic. I was royalty now. I had expected that I'd be a Princess, but being a Baroness was even better. It was all so overwhelmingly wonderful. Things weren't over yet, though. There was still the reception, which all of our guests were soon heading for. Gustave and I, as well as the rest of our wedding party, including Emma and Lawrence, posed for pictures. After that, which took several hours but was something I wouldn't have traded for anything, we all headed for the banquet hall, the room the reception was going to be held in. There was talking with guests, more pictures taken, and at one point we actually sat down to eat. There was tea, sandwiches and scones to go with it, as well as venison. There was also a wedding cake. There was also, of course, blood there for everyone to have. I had looked around and wondered if the amount of food we had would be too much, but I also knew that whatever food was left wouldn't go to waste. The servants would be more than welcome to it.

After many hours of eating, talking, drinking, dancing and picture-taking, the reception was over and Gustave and I were off to our honeymoon. Before we left, though, I threw my white and red bouquet and waited for someone to catch it. Gustave and I also chose a few outfits to bring with us, and changed. After that, Gustave and I left the castle and got into a horse-drawn carriage. As we were riding along, I looked out the window and noticed the sun setting. I smiled as I did, and rested my head on Gustave's shoulder. I was the happiest woman in the world right then and from Gustave's smile, I could tell he was the happiest man in the world.
