I Drink of Your Happiness

I hope you learn. You hurt and then, turn your back. There are experiences to be lived and learned. Don't turn around, but 'watch' your back with 'forevision'...
You didn't bother to turn and glance
Whether or not I was hurt or bleeding
I held onto sweet dignity and chance
This time, I am not going to be pleading.

I've done that enough in thought and deed
Much of the humiliation I took with a pinch of salt
Well, if you think I will succumb to need
Think again, it wasn't my fault.

Others have greater power over you
You seem to be so caged and smitten
Go fly a kite, dearie, or two
You'll be the one to be really bitten!

What goes around, comes around
You give and likewise you get
No matter where you roam or stay
Now the stage is alive and set.

May you prosper and be in jocund company
Forever and as far as you can get
May all your days be bright and sunny
Has been my prayer for you, even before we met.

I didn't change and never will
My friendships I keep and revive
You take care and watch your path
The aftermath - I hope you survive.

We go from one experience to another
I've aged in this arena you see
You too will learn to value brother
As you cross familiar lee.

'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you'
Be kind and gentle with souls who care
Speak a kind word and receive one too
And happiness will be in your share.
