Hurting (Inside And Out)
A poem of abuse and what it can lead to: hurt, torment and loneliness. This poem is written for my mother, who was abused by her husband. Help is always at hand for those who seek to find it.
How often have you screamed?
How often have you tormented me?
Crushing my spirit deep inside,
My life to you means nothing.
Now I am hidden
From the darkness of your abusive nature
You yell, you scream, you strike
Yet I care not,
I can’t hear you anymore.
Inside myself I lay
Hidden, broken and alone,
Yet unafraid
How close am I to insanity?
The peaceful bliss of being unawares!
My heart, like everything else, is broken
Here in my hospital bed,
I lie hidden from your screams.
I can’t hear you anymore.
How often have you tormented me?
Crushing my spirit deep inside,
My life to you means nothing.
Now I am hidden
From the darkness of your abusive nature
You yell, you scream, you strike
Yet I care not,
I can’t hear you anymore.
Inside myself I lay
Hidden, broken and alone,
Yet unafraid
How close am I to insanity?
The peaceful bliss of being unawares!
My heart, like everything else, is broken
Here in my hospital bed,
I lie hidden from your screams.
I can’t hear you anymore.
