Everyone who has taken a vacation to a city that has resorts in that town, like Williamsburg Virginia, Orlando Florida, Gatlinburg Tennessee and other similar places have run across someone who tries to get them to take a tour at the resort that they are working for.

This person is called an O.P.C and they get paid a commission to invite people to these resorts. Some of them have different locations like restaurants, dinner theaters and the like. Usually they have an agreement with the establishment they work at, that they can talk to people, but only on the way out of this establishment. The establishment also gets a fee. The fee they get can either be a location fee which gets paid monthly or quarterly. Or they can choose to get paid per qualified tour.

These people do this for a living and are usually very polite when they approach someone. The problems arise when tourist encounter them at many different locations. The tourist in some of these cities get approached every time they go in and out of different locations and get very angry because some places with 5 or 6 resorts in the same town have many OPC’s.

Think about it if there are 6 resorts and each has 30 opc’s working for them that is 180 people working the small town. Each trying to book tours into their own resort, so a tourist could run into most of them in a week’s time. And on top of that you also have guys that drive around in their cars pitching to different people. These people are called roamers and go where no one has a location.

Some people who go to these resort towns wish these people would just disappear. And it looks like their wish may come true if the economy does not turn around. On the other hand many people are glad for these people and resorts because of the gifting program.

These resorts offer many different gifts for just going and listening to what they have to offer to a family on vacation. The main purpose is hopefully you will buy one of their timeshare units with all the wonderful amenities that go with it. Second place to that is you will hopefully love the place and will buy a vacation package for your next visit. But you do not have to buy anything at all to get your gifts.

They usually start out with taking you out to breakfast followed by a tour of their very beautiful resort and finally they take you to the gifting room and present you with your gift. Some of the gifts you could receive depends on the person who booked your tour, Some gifts they give are 3 day 2 night stays, $100.00 dollars in cash, dinner show tickets, amusement park tickets, shopping spree tickets and such, you can even book a tour over the internet with these people (vacationpackagestogo.com) so when you get into town you can tell all these opc’s your already bookedti and to leave you alone.

These tours are usually about 90 minutes long and some people say that is too much time for them to give up for the gifts. But let me tell you this, if someone want to give me over $ 200.00 in cash and gifts I will do these all day long. That averages out to be well over a hundred dollars an hour, now someone please tell me where else can you earn that kind of money for just sitting on your butt ? Yet people still complain so I guess the old cliché people want everything for nothing is true.

So by now you are probably saying to yourself why do I have to hurry up and get booked in ? Here is the reason why you need to do it shortly for this year. The banks have a lot to do with the rush thing. In order for the resorts to be able to book tours they need to be able to get loans for those people who what to buy either their own week or just rent a week for a one year vacation. Even though we are paying of all the money changes debts they are not lending money to anyone with under a grade point of at least a 7 or above unless you put 50% down. This is forcing resorts to shut down their front line and close their doors to the opc sales department. The banks seem to rather spend your bail our money on buying more property for themselves like stadiums and such.

Because of this new mind set most people are not able to buy so many of the resorts have stoped taking tours and giving gifts away. Even though many people will be glad many more will be very sad. People who are going through hardships and those that have a lot of children will miss the free stay over’s or the 2 or 3 tickets they got for free to help them cut the costs so they could take their children on an nice vacation.

In Williamsburg VA alone they have already shut down 6 of the 8 resorts in that town. The few ops’s that work year round and forced to work for just 2 resort until they finally feel the weight of the cost and are forced to shut down as well.

So the bottom line is if you who are willing to sit and listen to a short sales pitch for a bunch of freebies you better start booking now before the last few survivors shut their doors.
