Humans Today
This is about the human's way of life today.
The world can be a nasty place
I for one should know
We've had World War One
Now know as the Great War
I can't see any greatness in it
I can't see any change from it
All I can see is the change of history
Next there was the Second World War
Adolf Hitler planned to rule all
It never happened though
Australia faced the fury of Japanese troops
We tried to defend Singapore
Our last Western hope left
Failure was rewarded harshly by the capture of our brave men
Whipped, bayoneted, slaughtered and starved
Our men came back insane and hatred for Japan rose
Next there was Vietnam
Communist against non-communist
We fought the Vietcong
Didn't think we'd be there long
How very wrong we were
One year passed, the fighting never stopped
Two years on, they still fight each other
Finally in 1972, a truce was called
We saw the end of the Cold War
That was when the Iron Curtain fell
We thought it was the end
Until the Gulf War started
Our brave men traveled there
And ended up with a mysterious disease
Gulf War syndrome
Is this us?
Are you for real?
Yes I am
Reality hurts
We've had the collapse of the giant Enron oil company
Oil spills poisoned the Mexican Gulf
BP pays for the destruction
We steal from the rich to give to the poor
Third world countries
Evidence of broken promises
Our PM's a failure
Throw him out
Replace him with another, same make
Insulation for free turns houses into ashes
Microsoft steals from Apple
Apple steals from Xerox
Is this us?
Are you for real?
Yes I am
Reality hurts
Yet we're too concerned with our images
To think of what we've done
Botox for wrinkles, fake breasts for flat-chested teens
Make the boys go wild with rock 'n roll
Forget about pollution
Forget about the war
Forget about the fall of our industries
Forget about the world
Who needs to worry when you have a million dollar looks?
Is this us?
Are you for real?
Yes I am
Reality hurts
If our men ever come back
Would we be able to look them in the eye?
Tell them that we really care
Tell them that we're proud of them
I for one should know
We've had World War One
