HTC Flyer Tablet Specs

A short write-up on HTC Flyer tablet tech specs which make it one of the most anticipated upcoming tablets of the year. A look at these specs, and the new HTC tablet seems to be quite promising - especially if you are into gaming.
HTC Corporation announced its first tablet - HTC Flyer, at the Mobile World Congress earlier this month. Since then, everybody is eager to know what HTC has in store for them. Scheduled for release somewhere during the Q2 of the year, HTC Flyer boasts of being a portable, lightweight tablet which seems to be predominantly designed for gaming. Even though its release date continues to be a mystery, HTC Flyer specs have been making a lot of waves in the tech arena over the last few days. If rumors are to be believed, it is expected to take on other existing best Android tablets in the field like Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab.

HTC Flyer Technical Specifications

One of the most popular names in the world of smartphones, HTC Corporation has finally decided to enter the raging war of tablets with its all-new 7 inch tablet - HTC Flyer. In stark contrast to the range of tablets announced at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, the Flyer is armed with a 1.5 Ghz single-core processor. In its new tablet, HTC has decided to stay with Android 2.4 Gingerbread OS (the upgraded version of Android 2.3 OS which is expected to be released sometime in April 2011). Now that may be a bit surprising with the Honeycomb becoming a popular choice in most of the upcoming 10 inch tablets. Among the numerous features that it boasts of, the integrated OnLive gaming service is one feature which makes this HTC tablet stand tall. Given below are more details of HTC Flyer Android tablet specs.

While experts are of the opinion that Android 2.4 upgrade will not be at par with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, HTC officials said that the new version of HTC Sense which will be released with the Flyer will make sure that the users have best possible experience with 2.4 Gingerbread. Some rumors suggest that HTC will roll out Flyer with Android 3.0 Honeycomb eventually, but as of now the users will have to suffice with Android 2.4 which is due for release in April. Other features to watch out for in this HTC tablet include the OnLive cloud gaming app, HTC Watch app for movie streaming, HTC Flyer Magic Pen, new Snapbooth to edit pictures, etc.

Price: While the actual price of this HTC tablet is yet to be disclosed, there have been some speculations about the same being in range of US$600 - US$700. While that may seem to be a bit costly, it has also been revealed that the Wi-Fi variant of this tablet - which will be launched sometime after the 3G version, will be cheaper than the 3G device.

Release Date: With HTC Corporation yet to reveal the exact date on which the Flyer will be released, sources suggest that the device will be rolled out in Q2 2011 - sometime soon after Android 2.4 Gingerbread is out. There also exist rumors about this upgrade for Android being released along with HTC Flyer in April 2011. With Sony tablet rumors suggesting that Sony has a PlayStation tablet - codenamed S1, in the pipeline making a lot of noise, HTC will prefer to take advantage of the situation if it intends to market this device as a gaming tablet.

The gaming capabilities featuring in the aforementioned HTC Flyer tablet specs list hint at the fact that gaming fans are in for a treat in the months to come. Some rumors also suggest that HTC plans to launch the Flyer with Honeycomb instead of the updated version of Gingerbread and that's the reason for this delay - that however is yet to be announced by the company so we will have to wait for sometime before we actually get the details of the matter. That being said we do have our eyes on the developments taking place in the tech arena, and will make sure that we keep you updated as new developments take place.
