Diaper Cake

Materials Used
  • 2 packs of diapers, preferably small
  • 3 pieces of thick or fabric ribbon
  • 30 rubber bands
  • Cake stand and tray
  • 4 receiving blankets
  • Decorations
Instructions

On the cake tray, fold and keep the receiving blanket. Roll the diaper tightly and tie it around with a rubber band. Repeat this step for the next diaper and bundle it with the first diaper using the same rubber band. Add more diapers until the rubber band can't fit more diapers. Repeat the previous two steps and form the cake's base layer. Tie the entire layer with a ribbon, fold the receiving blankets and place over the layer. Just the way you made the cake's base layer, prepare the cake's next two tiers also. Now, slowly remove some of the diapers and start inserting the decorations. Keep a striking cake topper like a stuff toy, or anything related to the party theme on the cake's topmost layer and your diaper cake is ready.

Cloth Diaper Cake

Materials Used
  • 1 doz prefolds (cloth diapers), folded in 3rds, lengthwise
  • 7 pairs infant socks
  • 1 receiving blanket

  • Cake pans
  • 3 large rubber bands
  • Cardboard cake tray
  • Ribbon
  • Tulle or cellophane
Instructions

Take a sturdy cake pan and keep a handful of diapers inside. Place the diapers against the side of the cake pan, while holding them securely with your hand. Add more diapers until the pan is full and then tie a large rubber band carefully around the entire tier. Don't forget to save a hole in the middle for hidden baby gifts. Now carefully flip the entire cake pan over and lift the pan off so that you will have a tier of diapers. Repeat the entire procedure for each cake tier. To make the cake look more beautiful, use cake pans of different sizes. Tie a ribbon around each tier and remove the rubber band by cutting it off, once the ribbon is securely tied. Finally wrap cake with cellophane or tulle to keep clean and give an elegant look.
