How to Wind a String Trimmer?
Winding a string trimmer involves the following steps:
  1. Always keep the manufacturers guidebook along with you, to ensure right technique for the process. The remaining or left over reel should be freed from the spool in accordance with the instruction manual.
  2. The reel has a hole or an insert space on it. This is where you have to put in about an inch of the newly brought string. Quite simply, this is the slot which will hold the string, while the winding is done.
  3. Slowly and steadily, wind the string on the reel, such that each winding line is almost overlapping or perpendicular to the other line. The layering should be done on one side of the spool to avoid any excess string on the trimmer.
  4. The trimmer has an outer hole through which you must have removed the reel. The string end of the reel is first slided down while inserting the reel back into the trimmer. The threading process is thus, completed and you can start trimming.
This easy-to-do procedure would have cost you a lot in case you had opted for buying a wound spool. In case of double holed reels insert the string in both the parts and both the ends can then be inserted into the trimmer head. There are certain modified versions of the trimmers, but they come along with a descriptive model of servicing. Therefore, slight variations in the process can be suitably adjusted. Examples of these are the screw on trimmers with caps. These caps have to be turned in the reverse direction for removing them from the trimmer. Another very common trimmer is the electric trimmer. Always remember to remove the plug before replacing the string. When done with the process, check whether the spool and the caps are securely fit into the trimmer. A slight casual fitting can cause a serious injury as both these parts can shoot off when the trimmer gets operational.

A simple process of proper winding of a string trimmer can ensure durability and proper functioning of a very useful device and a neat gardening help.
