How to Understand the Mysteries of Time

Time is something you don’t really pay much attention to, yet it guides, rules and dominates your life in a way nothing else does. You therefore, need to have a better understanding of time, if you are to make the most of time. It demands a good ROI
Time is an unstoppable dictator which regulates your lives from the moment you are born to the moment you die. Yet it is something you think very little about and often have little knowledge of or an understanding of what ROI (return on investment) you are getting from your time.

The Measure or Time:
Time has two immediate measurements, the calendar and the clock. The calendar, based on the phases of the moon, measures periods that are longer than a day, while the clock measures less than a day. There is a third time measurement, known as geologic time, which measures the events that shaped life on earth.

The earliest form of a clock was a simple sundial, which measured local daytime, by the shadow cast from an upright cross bar. The Egyptians were the first to produce the water clock which was able to measure the hours of darkness.

Time has been measured with sand-through-an-hourglass, the burning of candles, or incense sticks. There have been clocks driven by gravity, springs, electrical power, and pendulums. Atomic clocks are the most accurate clock of all, based on the spin property of cesium atoms.

World Time:
The globe is divided up by time zones which are exactly one hour apart. A sophisticated Global Positioning System synchronizes time-keeping systems around the globe, keeping everyone in touch with you.

Enough Time:
Many cultures speak of before time began, while others speak of the wheel of time and dream time. It is absolutely vital, if you have any idea of being a success, you know what you spend your time on.

King Solomon wrote:
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven -
A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.
A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing.
A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away.
A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace.
- Ecclesiastes 3:1–8

Personal Time:
Time is a precious commodity and an essential part of your everyday life, yet it means different things to different people. There is so much you can do with time. Here are just a few ideas:
  • Save time
  • Find time
  • Waste time
  • Use time
  • Kill time
You often consider time through the state of your mind and well being. At the end of the day, it is what you did with the time you had available. Man has created many ‘time saving’ devices, yet time is the one thing you never have enough of and once spent cannot be reclaimed. As a successful entrepreneur your time demands a top ROI.
