Tie a Bow with Ribbon

One must know to tie a bow because you never know when your skills may come in need. First you take the ribbon round the box and make a knot just like you would while tying your shoe laces. In fact this knot is tied the same way you tie shoe laces. If you don't know how to tie shoe laces, then "Gosh! You are really pampered!" Anyway, the next thing you do is to take the two loose ends of the ribbon and loop them. Then place the two loops together as if you are going to tie a knot, that is place one across the other. Then, take one loop and pull it through the gap above the knot and pull gently, leaving equal amounts of ribbon on both the sides. By the way, tying a bow step by step will be relatively easy for you, if you start with tying simpler bows.

Another way to tie a bow with a ribbon, would be to take the shorter end of the ribbon and twist it into a dog ear. Then you can take the longer end and keep looping it in such a way that the center of the loop is on the dog ear. Place your thumb in such a way that the loops don't slip open. Then using a ribbon wire, just seal the loop together. You can puff up the loops and there you go, you have multiple bows in a bow.

Tie a Bow on a Dress

Dresses with bows not only look elegant but very feminine also. One must know tie the bow on the dress properly, because if the bow is tied shabbily then, the entire charm of the dress is lost. So to tie a bow on a dress, what you need to do is, stand in front of a mirror so that you can see what you are doing. Then place the sash around your waist with the two ends in front of you, then pass one end under the other, so that you make a knot. Then you loop the right side which should be longer than the left side, now loop the left side and pass it across the base of the right loop and your bow is done. But of course it will look crumpled at first, so you will have to do a little adjustment so that two ends are equal.

You can also place the loose ends in such a manner so that they fall over each other by twisting the knot. Fluff up the loops and turn the sash around, so that the bow is behind you. Now step back from the mirror and admire your handy work.
