How to Stop Sweating

Learn some tips on how to stop sweating problems. They can range from the simple harmless methods, to complex medical procedures. Not all methods work for all people, so it may be handy to try a couple of non-hazardous methods here.
Are you looking for a treatment or a solution on how to stop sweating problems? Well then you have come to the right place.

You have probably known by now about the downside of this disorder and how your excessive perspiration has affected your life. So now it is understandable that you would like to put an end to this. The good news for you is that there are a lot of options you could choose from on how to stop sweating. They range from the most affordable and simple such as antiperspirants, through the more complex methods such as injections and medications, up to the most expensive and sometimes ineffective solution of surgery.

The most common way on how to stop sweating problems is through antiperspirants available in your local pharmacy. The Aluminium chloride is a famous choice for those who have mild sweating abnormality. Nevertheless, if the condition has worsened, the use of this is not very much recommendable. If you truly have an excessive sweating problem, otherwise known as hyperhidrosis, antiperspirants will often fail to work.

If you are someone who is more comfortable in taking in drugs and medications, there are a number of alternatives for you. Anticholinergic drugs decrease your sweat gland secretions and so drugs such as Glycopyrrolate and Oxybutynin could be effective, as suggested by the physician. The downside to this is that there could be side effects in using these which could be harmful for you, such as blurred vision, nausea, and mouth dryness. I think it is never best to just try these – always consult your physician and other ‘organic’ management techniques first.

Such organic methods include watching your diet, not consuming too much alcohol or tobacco products, and even getting the correct exercise daily to ensure your body is operating properly and in good shape. Other management techniques commonly discussed include relaxation techniques including yoga, and reducing the consumption of spicy foods or caffeine.

Recently, a discovery that is gradually keeping up with the pace of other famous treatments is the Botulinum toxin type A (Botox) injection. Again, this is an anticholinergic chemical which inhibits the sweat glands’ stimulation and production of perspiration. It is injected to the part of the body which requires attention and the effect would last for months. Some people claim this has worked wonders for them, hoever others have simply said that botox failed. Therefore even such injections do not guarantee their results, and often you are best to avoid them as they can have negative side effects to your body.

Lastly, when deciding on how to stop sweating, the last resort of methods would be through invasive and serious surgical procedures. These surgical treatments (Endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy and Sweat gland suction) either directly deal with the sweat glands itself or with the underlying cause, which is focused on the sympathetic nervous system. They aim to directly de-stimulate the nerves themselves, possible even removing them to some extent. There are many people that would rather living with an excessive sweating problem than having to go through such a procedure!

Other less common cures would be electrical stimulation or psychological treatments through hypnosis. The most important thing to consider is that the treatment you would choose would be the best for you and appropriate for the level of your sweating abnormality. It is best to consult your physician to guide you through this process.
