Do you know what all successful people have in common? Well, firstly they are intelligent. Secondly they are hardworking. And the most important quality of any organized person is that he is always well prepared in advance for any eventuality that might occur the day after or in future. In order to be successful and to be prepared for tomorrow, it is very important that a person is well-organized. Although, being organized is not easy and certainly not something one can become in a day. But with constant effort and the below suggested tips, anybody can have an organized home, work and life.

How to Be Organized at Work

Things To Do List
In order to be well-organized at work, the first thing that you should do is to make a things to do list everyday. Remember to make this list, one day before i.e., for the next day, before leaving for home the day before. With advanced computer technology, you can prepare this list in your system too. When you are aware about the kind and amount of work that you have to do the next day, you automatically will be able to plan it more appropriately.

Get Rid of the Clutter
It is very important that you throw away all the unwanted papers, files, things you have on your desk. Also, file the papers and files that you need everyday neatly. This will save a lot of time and effort on your part everyday.

Do one Thing at a Time
It is very important that whatever task you have planned to do first, gets finished , before you take up a new task. As you already must have observed while working that taking up two things at a time, most of the time, results in poor quality of work and secondly, delay in completion too.

Do Important Tasks First
Even if you like to do some other thing at a particular time, if a task comes up, which is very important from your boss's or organization's point of view, do that first. Finishing important tasks will eliminate any kind of outside interference such as your boss checking on you again and again what progress you have made on the task, etc. Once you finish this task, you will be able to focus more on the other tasks.

Getting Organized at Home

Donate Unwanted Stuff
If there are certain clothes in your wardrobe which you have not worn for over a year now, it is very unlikely that you are going to wear them in the future. Same goes for old shoes, books and other things in your house. So either you donate these things or simply put them in a trash bag and throw them away, to clear the clutter in your house.

Make a File
Make a file which contains all the important papers, bills, and receipts. Discard the ones that you do not need.

Fix Places for Everything
In order to organize your home, it is very necessary that you have a fixed place for everything such as clothes, shoes, books, extra kitchen supplies, medicine box, etc. This will help you to find these things easily when you need them.

Clean One Thing at a Time
Once you have fixed places for each and everything, start cleaning the house. Start with one shelf or cabinet at one time. Organize and clean it first and then move onto the next one.

Involve your Family
Once you clean the house, there is no guarantee that it will remain that way forever, especially if you have kids. So make them as well as your spouse understand how much effort has gone into organizing the house, by involving them in this task of yours too. This way they will think twice before messing up the stuff in the house.

Staying Organized in College

Make Note of the Syllabus
College life can throw many surprises at the youngsters and within a few days they realize what it's like to be on your own. It is very important that the students make a proper note of the syllabus that is provided in the class on the first day. They should write all the important dates that are specified in the syllabus, such as what and when a particular chapter has to be studies, when the papers have to be submitted etc. Once the student is clear what or when he is expected to do a certain thing, he will be able to plan it better.

Keep the Backpack Ready
The bag that the student takes with him everyday to the college should have the necessary items of everyday usage, such as pens, writing stencils, highlighters, and books, ready in it. This way the student will not have to struggle for them in the class or the library.

Keep the Room Organized
Keeping the hostel room clean and having a particular place for everything such a clothes, books, assignments, shoes, etc, will save a lot of time of the student everyday. The student should make sure that when he comes back from college everyday, he puts the things exactly from where he has picked them up.

Besides the above tips, it is very important to understand that procrastinating work makes a person disorganized so that should be avoided. One very important thing before I sign off, if you feel that you are making improvement in your personal and professional life, i.e. you are getting more and more organized, and are also reaping its rewards, it's very important that you reward yourself from time to time. Like you can go for a movie or watch a match, reward your self with whatever makes you happy. This will certainly keep you motivated enough to continue with this lifestyle of yours.
