How To Start Building A Profitable Email List

If you're an internet marketer or an affiliate marketer then you will probably know that you should really have your own email list of subscribers if you want to maximise your profits. So how do you go about starting to build your own list?

Well first and foremost you will need your own website. This can be a static website, a blog or even just a single web page. You can either add an opt-in form to your existing website or you can create a single page that is designed solely to collect subscribers.

To create an opt-in form on your site you will need to use an autoresponder. There are free ones available but I recommend using one of the paid services as these have higher delivery rates and have more advanced features. An autoresponder service will enable you to create an opt-in form and copy the html onto your site so you can start building your list.

The next stage is obviously to create your email messages. You can either send out broadcast messages as and when you feel fit, or you can schedule them to go out at certain dates in the future. Alternatively you could do what a lot of marketers do and combine the two so you have a set series of emails that go out automatically and you also send out live emails when you have a special time-sensitive promotion to send out.

The messages themselves should not be overly promotional. No-one joins a list just so they can be bombarded with sales promotions so make sure you provide your subscribers with plenty of good quality content as well. That way when you do promote the occasional product they will be a lot more receptive to your offer because you have given them good quality content in the past and they know they can trust you.

The final stage in building a profitable email list is of course sending traffic to your website or opt-in page. The more traffic you can send to your web pages that contain your opt-in form, the more subscribers you should get, particularly if you give your visitors a good incentive to join your list.

Remember industry figures suggest that it's possible to earn $1 or more per subscriber per month so obviously the bigger you can build your list, the more money you can potentially earn, so I can strongly suggest you start building your list right away.
