Do you often find yourself out of money and the payday always seems too far to provide relief? Do you often plan to save money but end up splurging unnecessarily? Does the pile of unpaid bills give you nightmares? If yes then this is the time to stop fooling around and get serious about saving money!

Effective Ways to Save Money

Here are some basic and easy steps that you can incorporate in your lifestyle to save money. Most of these are just very simple yet are bound to reduce your expenses and save a considerable amount of money for you.

Track Your Expenses

First things first, learn to value every penny that you earn. Use an organizer or a simple diary to keep a track of your daily and monthly expenses. Keep all your mobile phone bills, electricity bills, water bills, electricity bills, cable charges, and all other bills. Make a note of all your insurance premiums and other investments, mortgages or even loans. Once you have a monthly record of your expenses and analyze it yourself and be your own judge. Think of the expenses that you can cut down on or those that you can avoid completely. Categorize the expenses into the following categories:
  • Absolutely necessary
  • Necessary but can be reduced
  • Unnecessary
Try and reduce the expenses from the second category and if possible eliminate all the expenses from the third category immediately. Keep on tracking your expenses regularly since it will help you to know how much and how wisely/carelessly you are spending.

Clear Your Credit Card Debt

Credit cards offer you easy and convenient options to pay for your shopping when out of money, but they charge you an interest amount the next time you pay which means you eventually pay more than what the shopping was actually worth. Clear out your credit card debts and never exceed your credit limits.

Cut Down Unnecessary Expenses

If you do not really visit the Gym but pay a regular monthly fee for it, it is time to quit the gym. If you are genuinely worried about your fitness start working out at home with some basic stretches and jogging in the park. Instead of buying books, visit the local library and read for free. Cut down your expenses on unhealthy habits like smoking and even drinking. Take up a pay-as-you-go mobile plan to reduce your phone bills.

Avoid Impromptu Shopping Sprees

Often we go on impromptu shopping sprees to make ourselves feel better or simply to kill time. Shopping can be a dangerous addiction, which needs to be avoided if you are trying to save money. Go shopping only when you actually ‘need’ something. It is best to make a shopping list before you set out for shopping and stick to the list while at the supermart. This way you can avoid buying stuff, which you do not require. Do not splurge on designer clothing and accessories in case you are trying to save money and cannot afford it.

Use Energy Wisely

Using energy efficiently will help you a lot in saving money. Use water, electricity and fuels very wisely since irresponsible usage or wastage of energy will ultimately translate into wastage of money. Always remember to switch off the lights, the air conditioning, the television, the music system or your computer when you are not using it. Do not leave running water taps unattended.

Get Rid of Unwanted Goods

If you have goods that you have bought earlier but do not need them anymore, it might be a great idea to have a small garage sale or sell these goods online. This way you will get rid of the superfluous things in your home and also redeem it for some extra money, which you can use.

Be on the Lookout for Best Deals

Instead of spending money and buying stuff as and when you please, wait for the right deals to come to the market. Discounts and rebates during holidays and festivals are a great time to spend on high-investment goods and services. Save all your discount coupons and vouchers and redeem them no matter how less the discount or rebate amount is. A little saving everyday can go a long way.

Using these few tips you can take control of your financial situation and save enough money to spend wisely in a comfortable present and a secure future.
