How to Save Money on Moving Costs

Every one understands that today poses specific economic challenges and many of those challenges are further enhanced by the desire or necessity to sell or even leave your home, condominium, or apartment. so then the question becomes how do I move out of my residence for the least amount of money possible? The short answer to that question is do all the work yourself. There is no way around the fact that if you want the cheapest of all options for moving then walk up to a mirror and look at your reflection and say hello to your mover.

If for what ever reason you are unable or unwilling to move your self then I have a few ideas as an Atlanta movers to help reduce your out lay of cash or credit:

1.) Pack all or your boxes yourself. If you hire mover's to pack all your items in boxes that can easily double the cost of your move. In addition check with your neighborhood liquor, drug, and book stores to see if they can give you the boxes that there goods are shipped to them in (just make sure to not reuse fruits, vegetable, meat, type boxes). Also, keep in mind as items get heavier the box gets smaller (and buy the correct box for breakables or carry then separate from the main move).

2.) Prepare the furniture prior to the movers showing up. I don't intend for you to wrap the furniture in moving pads as the mover's will want to do that but you can take head and foot boards off beds, remove mirrors from dressers, take hutches of desks, and other things that are not hard to do but take time (many movers including us in Atlanta charge by the hour for local moves so time is money).

3.) Consider moving all the boxes and smaller items your self. This has become a larger and larger portion of our business in the last few years. Most movers will move only the part of the shipment you are unable as long as you meet a certain minimum charge (here in Atlanta most movers have a three hour minimum for local moves). Be sure to clarify what if any minimum charge your movers have.

4.) When you give the dates for you move to the movers as them if you were flexible a few days on either side of the dates given would that help the price.
