Visit an accessory shop and purchase some attractive upholstery fabric which will suit your car well. If you want to reupholster the seats in leather, you would like to buy a high quality, long-lasting one because you won't want to reupholster them every other month. Price of a good quality upholstery fabric and some foam stuffing will definitely be less than getting it done from a professional.
- Firstly, remove the seats from your car. Remove the seats from the bolts which are directly underneath the seats. Now undo the staple and tear off the fabric and carefully disassemble the front seat, back seat and also the headrest.
- Removing the tracks underneath the seats will also be necessary. Use a screwdriver to remove the hog rings. Now completely remove the seat cover.
- When you are removing the tracks, pay attention to the way it is assembled or simply mark the areas with a chalk or a marker. This will help when you are assembling everything back.
- If you are going to make your own upholstery fabric then keep the ruined material of the upholstery you will need it to stuff the gaps in the seat.
- Now remove the cloth carefully, which is protecting the seat bun from the springs attached to the seat. After this only the seat frame will be left.
- If the seat frame is rusted, you may consider painting it, but allow it to dry completely before laying the new fabric.
- After this pad up the seat frame with a new cloth along with the border pads. Apply a good quality adhesive and then place the seat bun.
- Next take the upholstery cover or fabric and wrap it around the frontal area of the frame. Stretch it to attach it on the hog rings and wrap it around the rear end of the seat bun and staple it at the bottom of the seat bun or where it was stapled previously.
- After this, reconnect the seat tracks or before that you would like to paint them with a similar color of the seat cover, to make the car interior look great.
- In the same way, you can reupholster seats at the back. Just remember to staple the fabric at the right ends and underneath the seat frame.
- Now only the last thing remains; put back the seats in the vehicle. Remember to ratchet the seats tightly.
- After your hard work has paid off, take pride in enjoying a comfortable ride in your newly transformed sedan.
