How to Reset iPod

Listening to music on your Apple iPod is a different experience. It may not seem so to many, but I feel so. You know how to use an iPod, but now, all of a sudden, it's acting kind of weird. Forget playing the songs, it won't even comply when you're trying to move through the "Menu" guide. It's a frustrating moment, isn't it? You spent so much time adding songs from Apple iTunes and now it is not ready to budge. What next? Have you tried to reset it? Don't know how? No worries because we have all the steps to reset an iPod. But that's not all. Whether you have an iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPod Classic, or iPod Shuffle, all the necessary instructions concerning resetting your favorite music player are mentioned below. Resetting iPod Touch

While resetting your iPod Touch, there are 2 different methods you can try: soft reset and hard reset. We will go over the steps for both. If you are experiencing any other issues with your iPod Touch and need assistance, read iPod Touch problems and solutions for answers.

Soft Reset
  • If you want to know how to soft reset, first take the iPod and press the "Menu" button.
  • Hold this button for about 10 seconds or less.
  • The screen will turn dark.
  • When you see the Apple logo on the screen, that's when your iPod Touch will get reset.
Hard Reset
  • If you want to know how to hard reset an iPod, first turn your gadget off.
  • On top left corner, there's a "Sleep/Wake" button; press and hold the button.
  • Along with this button, you will press the "Home" button as well for about 10 seconds or less.
  • When you see the Apple logo on the screen, that's when your iPod Touch will get reset.
Resetting iPod Nano

Is your iPod Nano frozen or isn't responding to anything you do? If you're facing issues with your iPod Nano, then here's how you can reset it.
  • To know how to hard reset an iPod Nano, first turn off your iPod Nano.
  • To do so, take the "Hold" switch to "Off", then back to "Hold" and then finally to "Off".
  • Next you will press and hold the middle button and the "Menu" button together.
  • Hold for about 10 seconds or less.
  • When you see the Apple logo on the screen, that's when your iPod Touch will get reset.
Resetting iPod Classic

Resetting your iPod Classic doesn't take much. Just follow the steps mentioned above for resetting iPod Nano. Since the Classic also has the middle click wheel, the steps of resetting it is similar.

Resetting iPod Shuffle

Last, but certainly not the least, your iPod Shuffle. No need to worry. You can reset your 1st and 2nd generation iPod Shuffle as well. Read the steps to find out how.
  • First, you will switch it off. To do so, move the top switch to "Off".
  • As you can see, the green stripe can't be seen now.
  • Now you will wait for about 5 seconds or so.
  • Turn it back on by moving the same switch to "Play in order" or "Shuffle" mode.
  • The green stripe is back and your iPod Shuffle has been reset.
Don't Reset When...
Now, although all these steps were given to reset an iPod. However, there are times when you shouldn't attempt this. This is when your iPod is connected to your laptop and if there are messages such as:
  1. Connected... Eject before disconnecting
  2. Do not disconnect
  3. Sync in progress. Please wait...
If any of these messages is displaying, that's your cue to stop right there are not to attempt a reset procedure. So if you have know how to reset iPod Touch, Nano, Classic, or Shuffle whilst it is connected to the laptop, you need to disconnect the gadget from iTunes itself and then proceed further.

The new addition to the Apple family is the Apple iPad. Although this new gadget was just released, so it shouldn't really have that many issues with getting frozen or otherwise.
