Remove Scratches with CD Cleaner
- In order to remove deep scratches from a CD, you need to clean it first.
- Purchase a commercial CD cleaner kit, or you can use metal polish.
- Spread the liquid all over the surface and wait for few moments (or as directed on the cleaner's instructions).
- Take a soft, clean cloth to wipe it off. Leave the CD on the side to dry completely.
- Now, all there's left to do is place it inside the CD player and hope that it works.
- In order to fix a scratched CD, you can also use toothpaste. Here's how.
- First of all, make sure the toothpaste you use does not contain any abrasive particles in it. Baking soda or any small crystal-like or bead-like particles will damage your CD further on.
- Also, you need to be careful that the peanut butter is smooth and not chunky.
- Place the plain toothpaste and peanut butter in front of you. First apply the toothpaste over the scratched CD.
- Then, the peanut butter goes on top. Make sure that you don't apply a lot of pressure, and are gently spreading both the pastes.
- Take a clean paper towel and buff the scratches outward for at least 5 minutes.
- Rinse the mixture with water and make sure there's no trace left on the CD.
- Leave the CD to air dry completely and place inside the CD player to check if it works properly. If not, repeat the process.
- You will require petroleum jelly and a clean cloth.
- Spread the petroleum jelly on the CD and follow the inner perimeter. Don't rub the jelly in circular motions; apply gentle pressure.
- Use a clean, wet cloth to wipe excess jelly off the CD. Make sure you don't use rubbing alcohol on the CD, but use plain water.
- If you check the CD now, you will see that the petroleum jelly was successful in removing scratches from a CD.
- In order to take out scratches from a CD, you will require Diet cola, water, and clean cloth.
- In a bowl, mix 4 oz of water and 2 oz of cola together. Dip the cloth in this mixture.
- Take the CD in your hand and buff it over the CD. Apply gentle pressure.
- Change the side of the cloth, dip it again in the mixture, and wipe the CD now. Again, apply gentle pressure.
- Leave the CD on the side, to air dry completely. Insert inside the CD player to see if it works properly.
