Ways to Reduce a Fever Quickly
These are some ways in which one can reduce the temperature without using any medication. Here are some of the same.
Remedy #1
If the temperature has risen beyond 102-103 degrees, then an ice pack is important to be administered.
- Make an ice pack to apply. To do this, take two cotton cloths that can easily soak in water.
- In a bowl, add very cold water and even an ice cube or two.
- Dip the cloth in the bowl and wring it so that the excess water is gone.
- But make sure that you do not touch the cloth a lot or your bodily temperature will run over into the cloth and make it warm.
- Now place the cloth directly on the patient's forehead and tummy.
- Keep the cloth for 2-3 minutes and replace it with the other cloth.
- Do this till the water in the bowl loses its cold factor.
- This should dramatically reduce the temperature and help to bring it down
- Make sure that you only use this method if someone has a very high temperature that won't go down.
Remedy #2
Replace the intake of solid foods with a liquid diet. Make sure that you take in plenty of water or other fluids into your system. This will help to reduce the raised body temperature of the body naturally. You could also have ice fruits or ice creams. Taking plenty of rest is crucial for reducing the fever.
Remedy #3
Do not wear heavy and thick clothes, but light and airy ones. Bundling up will only raise the temperature of the body again. Keep the temperature of the room between 70 to 75 degrees F. Do not turn off the fan, instead let the fan whirl, the air is necessary to bring the temperature down.

You can use this remedy of egg white and onion to get the temperature down.
- Take the egg white of an egg after separating it from the white.
- Now take an onion and chop it into pieces.
- Mix this with the egg white.
- Add apple cider vinegar (1 tbs) into this mixture.
- Now take a washcloth or handkerchief and dip it into the mixture.
- With the cloth dripping and onion pieces stuck to it, apply this the cloth on the feet, with the onions touching the skin.
- Now pull up a pair of socks on the washcloth so that it stays in place.
- This will bring the temperature down to the feet and slowly ebb away.
- Reapply if the fever does not subside.
When there is a high fever in toddlers, most of the remedies mentioned above will work wonders, but here are a few special steps on how to reduce a fever in a toddler and child.
Remedy #1
Simply take a cotton scarf and soak it in water, wring off excess water and wrap it around the child's neck and head. Repeat the process once the scarf dries out.
Remedy #2
Run some cotton socks under cold water and then pull them over a child's feet. Make sure that they cover his ankles. Let the socks be there till they dry out. Repeat the process if the temperature hasn't gone down yet.
Remedy #3
Get the child to sweat it out by making him sip on hot drinks. A good remedy is to make sage and lemon balm tea and let the child sip it.
Remedy #4
For a toddler, rub the body with olive oil and then wrap a cotton cloth over them and wrap them in a blanket. Give them a bath in the morning to wash off the oil.
