How to Put a YouTube Video in PowerPoint
Many people wonder how to put a YouTube video in PowerPoint. The following article will cover some simple instructions that will help you with your doubts.

In PowerPoint 2007
You can embed a video by clicking the Office icon that you will see in the top left corner of the taskbar. Then you need to select options and enable the developer menu. It can be done by checking the box that is near show developer tab, which is present on the popular tab and then click OK.
Now, you need to click the developer tab and select more controls button and you will find a list from which you need to choose Shockwave flash object and click OK. Use the mouse to draw a box on the slide where you want to insert the video. Once the box is created, you need to right-click on it and select properties.
On the YouTube page, copy the URL and paste it in the property page that you'll see after clicking on properties. The URL needs to be changed a bit in order to make it work in your presentation, like in watch?v=, the 'v=' needs to be replaced with v/.
After you do the changes, you need to close the properties box. To be sure that you have followed everything correctly, make sure you check whether the video inserted appears on your slide. Do not worry, if you are unable to see it in the edit mode as it is not visible there. When you view the slide, you will see the YouTube clip in your presentation.
In PowerPoint 2003 and Earlier Versions
If you are using PP 2003 or the earlier versions, you need to follow slightly different steps. You need to open the PP and select a new slide where you want to insert the clip. Then click on view and select toolbar and then more controls. You need to scroll down and select 'Shockwave flash object'. Then, use your mouse and draw a sizable box you want. Then, right-click on it and choose properties. Then double-click on custom tab.
Now, you need to copy the video's URL from the sharing area and paste it in the box under custom. You need to make certain changes in the URL by removing the '=' sign from watch?v= and replace it with forward slash (/). Then, see if the embed movie box is unchecked and apply then click OK. Save your presentation and run a slideshow to make sure it is working fine.
Embedding a Video Without Internet Connectivity
Your link will not work without Internet. In such a case, you can embed it in PP by following some simple steps.
First, you can try by downloading and installing an application called, YouTube Wizard plug-in. This will add a new ribbon to your PP toolbar that says 'insert YouTube video'. Copy the link address in the wizard. This will convert the videos into AVI or WMV format and can be viewed in your presentation.
The second method to play any YouTube clip without Internet is by downloading them. You can use websites like Zamzar, MediaConverter or all2convert and download your clips in AVI or WMV file format. Make sure you use either of these file formats to input videos in PowerPoint as it does not recognize any other formats.
This is a very simple process that helps add more information and is an interesting way to present your slide.
