I am sure every time you have a hangover, you might have repented for not trying to prevent it. So, how to prevent a hangover? Well, there are steps that you can take to avoid the throbbing hangover the day after. Read the article to know all about it.

Know Your Limit
Firstly, one needs to be aware of their limit. Not everyone can consume the same amount of alcohol and still hold their drink. So, listen to your body. When you feel like you are high enough, stop drinking. Only 75% people experience hangovers. Which goes to show that 25% people know when to stop drinking. Either you take it real slow, or make sure you don't get completely wasted.
Avoid Dehydration with Water
One tends to have a hangover due to dehydration of the body. So, in order to prevent the hangover, make sure you drink ample water during your drinking session. Mix the alcohol with water and take sips of water between drinks as well. More so, coupling your drinks with fruits also helps you stay hydrated, and hangover free.
Eat Your Food
Eat before you drink alcohol. Eating before or along with the alcohol reduces the absorption of the alcohol by the body. This not only reduces the possibility of you getting totally "wasted", but it also gives your body enough strength to avoid a hangover. More so, eating before you drink, will reduce the amount of alcohol you consume as well.
No Concentrated Alcohol
Try to avoid drinking concentrated alcohol. The less concentrated the drink, the lesser its chances of causing you a hangover. For example, instead of going for a whiskey on the rocks, you can have it with water. Try a rum and coke instead of rum neat. These steps will help you enjoy your drink, without causing you a hangover.
Light Over Dark-colored Drinks
Lighter colored drinks are less likely to cause a hangover as compared to darker ones. Choosing a vodka or gin over a rum or whiskey is a better option to avoid a hangover. More so, when mixing the drink, choose mixers that are non-carbonated. Carbonated mixers increase the alcohol absorption.
Stick to One
Do not mix your drinks. If you have started the night with a certain alcohol, stick with it. Do not have different types of alcohol during the same drinking session. Yes, it will give you a mean and fun high. However, it will also cause you nausea during the session, and a terrible hangover the next morning. So, avoid mixing drinks.
Be Happy High
It is often noticed that a person having a "happy high" is less susceptible to a hangover as compared to a person on a "depressed high". As in, if you are in a good mood while drinking, not only will you have control on your mood and alcohol, you will also avoid the hangover. However, if you are upset and sad while drinking, you will tend to drink more, and have a terrible hangover as well.
It is important for everyone to remember that no matter how much fun you may have while drinking, a hangover can completely ruin the memory of it. So, the best thing to do is drink in control and take the other steps to avoid a hangover. This way, your fun, will not have a negative impact the next day. This is where I sign off!! All the best!
