How to Play Truth or Dare

Playing truth or dare is extremely easy. The only thing it requires is tact. Learn here, how to play truth or dare to enjoy it thoroughly.
Truth or dare is a game that can be enjoyed anywhere and among any number of people. Be it an overnight camp, a long drive, a party, or at the mall, you can pose questions and dare people to do pretty much anything you like, as long as they are okay with it. While it is definitely immense fun (of course at the cost of someone else), a lot of people refuse to play the game because this game is simply not for the faint-hearted. The truth aspect of the game is particularly so because it leads you to reveal the deepest secrets you may have been scared of even admitting to yourself. With dares, you can be asked to do just about anything. It is not a bad game nonetheless, and it is up to you to draw the limits about the intensity of the dares and the types of questions asked. You may go as haywire as you wish to, but only after all the players have consented. There is no hard and fast rule that says you have to answer every question or perform every dare if you don't want to. So if you are ready, here's how to play truth or dare.

Truth - or Dare?

Once again, before we begin, remember that you should be mentally prepared to answer all the questions that are posed to you, and do all the dares you are asked to do. While you may also be the one posing the questions and the dares, be assured that you will also be at the receiving end of it. Take a look at the art of playing truth or dare.
  1. Ensure that the age group of the people you have asked to play truth or dare is similar. For instance, a game that includes teens should only include teens. Also try to avoid having siblings in the group. A game with teens will have only truth or dare questions for teens, which will definitely not be answered in the presence of adults or younger or older siblings.
  2. Have everyone sit in a circle, ideally on the floor.
  3. Before starting, decide on the limits of the game. Be it the questions or the dares, if they make anyone deeply uncomfortable, the game is definitely not going to be fun. You may compile a list of truth or dare questions or ideas before starting. You may also choose to pose only funny truth or dare questions or dares in the game.
  4. If there are more than 2 people playing the game, take an empty bottle and place it at the center of the circle. Have any member of the group spin the bottle. The person to whom the base of the bottle points is the one who will pose a question or dare to the person to whom the top of the bottle points.
  5. The asker will then ask the answerer 'Truth or Dare?', from which the answerer has to pick one.
  6. Based on what is picked, the questioner may pose a question or ask her/him to perform some dares that may include spitting in a glass of coke and drinking it, making a prank call to your boyfriend/girlfriend's father, or performing a repetitive movement till the end of the game! For this, the questioner may take the ideas from other members in the group. The truth or dare ideas are truly limitless and are usually specific to the age group.
  7. Once the question has been answered or the dare performed, the bottle is spun yet again and the next two persons it points to will continue the game. The game can continue endlessly or you may stop after everyone has played at least one turn.
The rules are not very different for those of you who want to play with your girlfriend/boyfriend; except that the game will comprise only both of you, and the questions and dares can and will be much wilder. So that's all there is to playing truth or dare. Some people even attempt to play truth or dare online via webcams which can get pretty interesting! This game can be enjoyed by people of all age groups. Once again, just ensure no one gets uncomfortable in the process. Have Fun!
