How to Overcome Laziness
Laziness exists everywhere. However, if one has to succeed at what one does, then it is very important to know how to overcome laziness. Here are some tips to overcome laziness.

But then, I must admit, some of this time was rather well spent. I did devote an entire day of my life towards researching on the psychology of procrastination, the concept of laziness, and how it can be conquered. In the process, I ended up learning quite a few 'beat the laziness' tips and tricks. I tried them out, and let me tell you, a lot of them did work (how else do you think I finally managed to complete this article?) Well, if you too wish to learn the secret of conquering laziness, read ahead. Here are some tips to overcome laziness.
How to Overcome Procrastination and Laziness
The occasional instance of wanting to sleep in late on a particular day, or wanting to postpone a minor task to the next day after an exhausting day's work, is perfectly normal, and nothing to be alarmed by. But if an attitude of laziness and procrastination starts creeping into every single aspect of your personal or professional life, then that certainly becomes a matter of concern. Laziness can often get in the way of productivity and if not kept in check, it can seriously deter a person's progress and success (be it professional, personal or anything else). Now, overcoming laziness is no rocket science. All it requires is a few minor adjustments in one's thought process, time management and work ethic. Here is how to overcome laziness in a few simple ways.
Setting Goals and Priorities
Goal setting and prioritizing things is an important step in overcoming laziness. Often it happens, that we are lazy or indifferent about doing some particular task or activity simply because we are not clear in our minds about its priority, importance, value or significance. If you are clear in your head about your priorities or your goals associated with a certain task or activity, it can significantly help in overcoming any laziness associated with doing that particular task or activity.
Motivation
Lack of motivation coupled with insufficient inspiration, is another major reason for being lazy about some thing, task, activity or duty. If you are not motivated enough about doing a particular task, then naturally, you will have difficulty accomplishing or completing that task in time, and with sincerity or genuineness. Motivation is directly related to positivity and an internal driving force to do or achieve something. Therefore, if you are able to motivate yourself properly, you will find that the laziness element gets automatically reduced, or gets completely done away with.
Mental Discipline
Strong mental discipline is as important as being motivated is. You may have the motivation or the inner drive to take up a particularly long and complex task, but it is a strong mind and good mental discipline that will ensure that you do not quit halfway through the job, and that you complete what you have begun. Unfortunately, discipline is something that quite a few motivated people lack, and that ultimately shows up in the form of laziness.
Exercise
Exercise is a great way of refreshing your mind and your body. In most cases, you are too lazy to do something simply because your body or your mind is too tired to respond to your brain's signals or requests of doing that particular thing. Subjecting your body to some light physical exercise is beneficial in such circumstances. It boosts the blood circulation, ups the metabolism and awakens the body from its lazy slumber. Personally, I'd recommend a 30-minute swim. I've found it to be the best solution to most of my laziness-related difficulties.
Reward System
Well, if nothing else works, try this out. Tell yourself that you will reward yourself with a treat if you do the thing or complete the task (that you've been too lazy to do all this while). That can, in many situations, propel a person to get off the couch, get on with things, and get the job done. (That is also how I got this article done with!).
Well, this was a short overview of how to overcome laziness and procrastination. Do give it a read. You may well find it helpful.
