How to Make Things Out of Duct Tape

Here are some basic yet cool ideas that can be tried by beginners for making things out of duct tape.

Duct Tape Wallet
Here are some instructions on how to make a duct tape wallet in just 15 minutes.

• You may choose a duct tape of any color. Now cut 4 strips of tape each of 7 inches and stick each along the side of the other so as to place them next to each other.
• Now repeat the same procedure again so as to cover the sticky side with a smooth surfaced tape.
• Cut off the uneven sides.
• Now rip a strip into half or cut it. Use it to cover the edges so as to give it a smooth finish. Now you have the main body of the tape ready.
• The next step is to make the credit card pockets. Take a 14 inch long strip and stick it with another 14 inch tape so that it makes a strong pocket.
• Now measure the length of a credit card and accordingly cut the tape into 4 strips each.
• Place them on the insides of the wallet and then stick all the 4 pockets with a tape from the center.
• You will also need to stick the loose edges of the pockets that are still free on the sides of the wallet. Therefore rip a strip into half and stick each side of the wallet so that the tape covers the edges of the pockets.
• Now, fold the wallet evenly and your duct tape wallet is ready! You may now decorate the insides as well as the outer surface with other colorful duct tapes so as to give it designs.

Bright Flip-Flops
Here is how you can make some really cool flip-flops out of duct tape! It's fairly simple, this how you go about it:

• You will firstly need to either buy rubber soles that are the exact size of your feet or you can instead cut a piece of strong cardboard. Make sure that it's cut in exact shape and size of your feet.
• Now all you need to do is to cover the upper surface of the flip-flops with several strips of duct tape until its complete.
• Now make two small holes at the top center of the sole, where you'd like to place the straps of the flip-flops.
• In order to make the flip-flop straps, all you need to do is to take 1 long strip of a different colored duct tape.
• Now keep the sticky side up and stick both the open sticky sides towards the center of the strip. This way you won't need to seal the edges specially. This will make a long even strap.
• Take this strap and pass it through the holes from below the flip-flop soles. The two open ends of the strap should be facing forwards you.
• Now wear your flip-flops. Now take the open ends of the strap and measure them according to your feet and see where the ends much reach so as to be worn comfortably.
• Seal the open ends of the flip-flop strap from underneath the flops with a duct tape.
• Now completely cover the undersurface with a fresh layer of tape.
• Take a new colored strip and fold it into half. Use this to cover the ends of the center of the strap where you had drilled the two holes. This will secure the strap so that it stays, when you wear it.
• Now cover the upper surface with tape again, so as to give it a neater look. Cut off the extra edges or simply fold them underneath the flip-flops.
• Your flip fops are ready to wear!

Retro Belt
Here is your chance to make a really amazing belt using duct tape. So simply follow these instructions.

• Take a strip of duct tape of any color, and cut to length as per your waist size.
• Take another strip of the same color and the same length.
• Now stick the two strips so that the sticky side sticks to the other sticky side, in a way that both strips have a bit of sticky sides free from the belt's ridge.
• Now stick the free sticky sides along the belt and this makes the main body of the belt.
• Cut the ends of the belt so as to remove the uneven sides.
• You can decorate your belt in any way you wish. Use different colored tapes for this.
• Now, take any metal or plastic buckle from an old belt that is no longer in use.
• Cut 2 inch tapes, so as to make a 'T' shaped sticker. Repeat this as you will need two T stickers to stick the buckle on to the edge of your belt.
• Once you have stuck the buckle, cover the area right below the buckle with a piece of tape. This will give a neater look.
• Now you may add the holes at the end of the belt, or you could add grommets using a grommet puncher. You can buy the puncher from an art and craft store.
• Now in order to make the holder for the belt, you will need to cut a 4 inch tape.
• Fold this tape into half and then place it right below the metal buckle. Stick the open ends of the strip from underneath the belt using tape. Your duct tape belt is ready to be worn!
