Types of Sugar Cookies
Filled: You can fill a cookie with jams and jellies, and a variety of other things you wish. You can cut the unbaked cookie, and press the edges on top of the filling which is folded into half, or you can use a cutter and cut two cookies, place the filling on one cookie and then press the other cookie onto it.
Frosted: You can frost the sugar cookies with colored icing for any occasion. The two types of frosting commonly used, are poured icing and butter cream. Poured icing creates a hard shiny surface on top of the cookie, while butter cream gives them a creamy feel.
Cutouts: Cutout sugar cookies are made of dough and are thick, so they can be rolled on floured surfaces. They can be cut into different shapes and sizes, using cutters.
Variations: You can modify these sugar cookies by changing the ingredients according to your liking.
Drop: These cookies do not require cutting or rolling. You just need to drop these cookies on a greased cookie sheet and they are ready to be relished.
These different kinds of cookies are very easy to make and loved by one and all, especially the little ones. Try different shapes and colors to add a special touch to your sugar cookies and you are sure to see a 'sugary' smile on the face of your kids.
