Start your own blog

Starting your own blog may sound intimidating but it really isn’t. You can go to blogger.com and in less than ten minutes you will have a great looking blog that is ready to make you some money. How? Blogger will take you step by step through the process and will even automatically set up Google AdSense which is advertisements on your blog that will allow you to get paid when people visiting your blog click on the links. Now to become a full time blogger you will have to hone your skills and generate lots of online traffic, but start with telling your friends and family and you’re off and running. If your blog is interesting a little word of mouth will go a long way.

Become a writer

There are web sites that will pay you for your articles that you write on just about anything. These sites will pay you a performance fees for your articles, so the more times your articles are viewed, the more money you get paid. The Associated Content even has an option for you to sell your article to them for an upfront payment and you will still get performance payments as well. The better your article, the more you will get offered upfront. A word of caution, once you get paid upfront for an article it is no longer yours, so make sure it is not an article you want to post elsewhere. Both sites offer free accounts and while the pay is not tremendous, it is an easy way to get your feet wet as an online freelance writer and a great way to perfect your writing skills.

Affiliate programs

This works very well with blogging. What you are doing as an affiliate is selling someone else’s products by putting a text or image advertisement on your blog. If someone visiting your blog clicks the link and buys a product from that company, you get a commission. A good way to sell these products are to blog a review about them and then have an affiliate link to where the reader can find out more information about the product and even buy the product. Many big companies have affiliate programs and are more than happy to have you pushing their products for them on your blog. Just make sure that your affiliate ads make sense with what you are writing about. You don’t want to blog about your cat and have an affiliate advertisement up for a DVD player as doing this will get you little to no business.

While there are plenty of other ways to make money online, these are some of the easiest ways to get started. With just a little time and writing effort you can be on your way to getting some extra income online and your start-up and overhead will be zero. Just remember when making money online you don’t need to buy someone’s "how to guide" or products, you just need a little ingenuity.
