How to Make Money from Home on Your Computer - Your First Step

Trying to learn how to make money from home on your computer can seem intimidating. But if you look around the internet, you can see that hundreds of people from all walks of life are doing it. Men, women, younger adults, older adults, intelligent, not so intelligent, good looking or not so hot....so what is the difference between them and you? And what do they all have in common? The answer is simple - they all took that very first step.

Keep in mind that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

I can remember when I first started writing articles. It seems like so long ago. Yet, had I not written that very first sentence, I would never have finished that very first article, or my second, and so on... Everything you've ever done, every journey - no matter how long - begins with one step. But you have to take that first step - and once you do every step after that brings you closer and closer to where you want to go.

The secret to success is simple, but not always easy. It's simple, because all you have to do is JUST BEGIN. Take that single step, followed by another, and another. However, sometimes this is not easy because when we consider doing something new, like starting an online business, or learning a new way to make money online, or finally starting a home based business, it can all seem so overwhelming. It's as though we can't even picture ourselves reaching our goal of making money from home. It feels like that first step won't make a difference. When we look at our goal, it seems so far away, the journey already feels too difficult, We may not even know where to begin.

Here is where taking that first step is VITAL. Just begin. Start. Take one step, followed by another, and then the next, and so on. Don't look too far ahead and don't look too far behind you either. Stay in the present moment. Focus on the task at hand, complete it, and then move forward again. If you just repeat this pattern over and over again, you will be astonished at how far you will go and what you can accomplish.

It reminds me of a story I once heard. There was a small town in Europe that had become a popular tourist attraction during the spring because there existed in it a field of more than 5 acres of beautiful yellow blooming buttercups. It was breath taking to look out over the expanse of beautiful, soft , yellow flowers that seemed to go on forever. But the real miracle was that it had all been hand planted by one woman. When someone asked her how she created it, she answered quite simply, "Well, it wasn't terribly difficult. I started many years ago, and I just decided to plant a few every day and I've been doing it ever since."

The thought of covering 5 acres of land with hand planted flowers would certainly seem overwhelming to anyone, but the woman with the buttercups probably never thought about that. She just thought about her goal of planting a few "today". And soon it all added up. The same is true with anything we want to accomplish in life, just decide to do a little every day, and before you know it you will have created something amazing. But it all begins with that first step.

Again and again, you will hear people say they are going to start that online business, they are about to write that book, they are thinking about starting a home based business, or they are planning on taking that trip. And they just keep putting it off for one reason or another. There will always be a reason to not take that first step. JUST DO IT. If you will just start now - TODAY - think about how much closer you will be to your dream, if you will just TAKE THAT FIRST STEP!
