What is Lemon Detox Diet?
Nowadays, 'juice detoxification' has become a popular method to cleanse the body of toxins. In this method, fresh fruit juices are used to detoxify the body. Lemon detox diet is basically a liquid diet comprising of lemon cayenne pepper drink, which is aimed to cleanse the body and get rid of accumulated toxins.

The ingredients of lemon cayenne pepper drink are lemon juice, natural maple syrup, cayenne pepper and filtered water.
You can prepare this drink easily, as the ingredients required are readily available and are inexpensive. The first ingredient needed for the preparation of this drink is lemon juice. Always try to get freshly-squeezed lemon juice from organic lemons. Never use any concentrate, as it contains sugar and other preservatives. It is believed that lemon juice is good for the detoxification of liver. It also improves digestion, which indirectly helps the liver in its filtering process. Next thing you need is pure organic grade B maple syrup. This becomes the source of energy for the body and also helps in controlling hunger. The third ingredient is powdered cayenne pepper and the last one is filtered water. Tap water may contain contaminants and there is no guarantee that bottled water is pure. Hence, it is better to use filtered water for effective detoxification. Cayenne pepper helps to speed up metabolism and water helps the cleansing process of the body.
Making Lemon Cayenne Pepper Drink
Lemon cayenne pepper drink is very easy to make. The following recipe is to make only one serving.
- Take a glass, big enough to contain 10 ounce of water. Pour 5 ounce of the filtered water into it.
- Add 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice to the water.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup to the mixture.
- Then add 1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper.
- Add the remaining 5 ounce of filtered water and stir well.
As there are many speculations about the effectiveness and side-effects of this cleansing diet, always make sure you consult your nutritionist or dietitian before venturing into this diet program.
