How to Make Hamburgers

Hamburgers are tempting and mouth-watering. You just cannot resist from taking a bite of this delicious recipe. Hamburger is a typical menu which is basically a sandwich with a cooked patty placed between two buns. Mayonnaise, lettuce leaves, sauce, cheese, tomato, onions, etc., are some of the optional ingredients. Though hamburgers are readily available in restaurants, you can try making them by yourself. Here are two recipes to make hamburgers from scratch.

Making Hamburgers from Ground Beef

Ingredients
  • Green onions (finely chopped) - 2
  • Garlic cloves (minced) - 2
  • Green bell pepper (chopped) - ½
  • Ground beef - 1 pound
  • Soft sun-dried tomatoes (chopped) - 4
  • Egg - 1
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 dash
  • Bread crumbs - 3 tablespoons
  • English muffins (split and toasted) - 8
  • Vegetable oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Hot pepper sauce - 1 dash
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Procedure

Take a medium-sized mixing bowl and add ground beef, chopped green onions, minced garlic cloves, chopped bell pepper, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and bread crumbs. Mix these ingredients properly with hands to form dough like texture. Then form 8 patties from the mixture, each with ½ inch thickness. You can shape the patties with hand or use a patties press. Take a skillet, put vegetable oil in it and heat it over medium-high heat. Once the oil is heated enough, cook the burgers. Cook each side of the burger at least 5 to 6 minutes, depending up on the crispy texture required by you. If you have a cooking thermometer then cook the burgers until the thermometer reads 160 degree Fahrenheit at the center of the burger. Once the burgers are cooked place them between toasted English muffins.

Making Hamburgers in the Oven

Ingredients
  • Salt - ¼ teaspoon
  • Ground beef - 1 pound
  • Ground black pepper - ½ teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - ½ teaspoon
  • Worcestershire sauce - 2 teaspoons
  • Eggs - 2
  • Bread crumbs - 1½ cups
  • Vegetable oil - ¼ cup
  • Onion (sliced into rings) - 1
Procedure

To prepare this hamburger recipe, first preheat the oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit. Take a small bowl and whisk eggs in it. Beat the eggs properly. In a large plate, place the bread crumbs. Now, in a medium-sized bowl, combine, ground beef, garlic powder, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Mix the ingredients properly and form 4 patties. Dip these patties in the bowl with beaten eggs. Press these egg-dipped patties into bread crumbs and coat them well from all the sides. Take a large skillet and heat vegetable oil in it. Brown the patties in the vegetable oil, 2 minutes for each side. Then, take a baking dish of appropriate size and place the sliced onion rings to its bottom. Pour some water in the baking dish, but do not cover the onion slices with water. Now, place the egg-dipped bread-coated patties on the onion slices. See that the hamburger patties do not touch the water in the pan. Bake the patties in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes and serve them with toasted hamburger buns or English muffins.
