Green tea is a type of tea where the tea leaves have undergone minimal oxidation during processing. China is the land of origin of green tea, but now it has become associated with a number of cultures such as Japan, Middle East, etc. It has become famous in the west in recent times. Now there are many varieties of green tea, which are cultivated where there are suitable growing, processing and harvesting conditions available. In the last few years there have been many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of the long purported health benefits of these leaves. Making green tea is not a difficult task, if you know the right steps to make it.

Making Green Tea
Many a time, people are confused about the procedure of making green tea at home. Here is the recipe which will help you in making green tea an easier task.

Ingredients
  • Green Tea Leaves 1 teaspoon
  • Water 1 cup
Method
  • Place the green tea leaves in a strainer.
  • Pour water in a stainless steel container and heat it to 180 degrees Fahrenheit. If you do not have a thermometer, keep an eye on the water, make sure it does not boil.
  • Place the tea strainer with tea leaves into an empty mug.
  • Now pour the hot water into the mug, over the tea leaves.
  • Let the leaves steep in water for 2 to 3 minutes, but not longer.
  • Cool the tea for a few minutes and now you can enjoy your cuppa of green tea.
Making Green Tea with Tea Bags
Some people prefer using tea bags as compared to lose tea. The green tea in the tea bags is not different than the lose green tea. Personally I find it convenient to use tea bags, as I can use them when I am traveling as well. A word of caution is to keep the tea bags in an air tight container, as when the tea comes in contact with air it may lose its flavor.

  • Green Tea Bag 1
  • Water 1 mug
Method
  • Boil water and let is cool down for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Then place the tea bag in the mug and pour the water on the tea bag.
  • Let the tea bag steep in water for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Remove the tea bag and let it cool before drinking it.
How to Make Green Tea Taste Better
There are different ways which can help you to make your green tea taste better. Let's see some tips.
  • If you like citrus flavor, you can add a slice of fresh lemon to the green tea. In case fresh lemon is not available, then you add half a teaspoon of bottled lemon juice for the citrus flavor.
  • For the invigorating flavor to the green tea, put a few fresh mint leaves into a cup of newly brewed green tea. The hot water will bring out the flavor out of the leaves.
  • Half a teaspoon of pomegranate juice can be added to a cup of green tea to sweeten the tea.
  • Another alternative to sweeten the green tea is to use a drop of vanilla extract.
  • A last tip to make the green tea taste better is not to brew the tea, as it can make the tea taste bitter.
Now that you know the recipe to make green tea, you can make a few of cups of green tea once, store it in a flask and drink half a cup each time. This will save you time, and let you have the pleasure of drinking green tea throughout the day without the bother of making it each time.
