Making Egg Salad
Egg salad is one of the popular and indispensable dishes, which is very easy to prepare. Once you master the art of making egg salad, you can experiment with various ingredients and come up with unique recipes.
Ingredients
- Hard-boiled eggs - 5
- Cooked bacon slices - 2 medium slices (chopped)
- Garlic aioli - 50 ml
- Chopped parsley - one tablespoon
- Diced green onion - one tablespoon
- Diced shallots - two tablespoons (one for making garlic aioli)
- Minced garlic - three cloves
- Lemon juice - one tablespoon
- Beaten egg - one medium-sized
- Olive oil - 120 ml
- Pepper powder - ½ teaspoon
- Salt - as per requirement or ½ teaspoon
Start with boiling the eggs. In order to get the perfect hard-boiled eggs, you have to cook eggs in boiling water at low heat for around ten minutes. After removing from heat, transfer these eggs to cold water. After some time, peel the eggs and keep aside. Take a large mixing bowl and break the boiled eggs to small pieces. You may also use an egg slicer to chop the boiled eggs to small chunks. Now, add the diced green onions, diced shallots, chopped bacon and chopped parsley to the eggs and keep aside.
Prepare garlic aioli by mixing the beaten egg, minced garlic, lemon juice, one tablespoon chopped parsley, half teaspoon pepper and olive oil. Mix the contents till the mixture becomes soft and creamy. Once the garlic aioli is ready, add it to the bowl with chopped eggs. Now, you have to fold in the contents of the bowl very gently, so that the ingredients are not mashed. Once they get mixed in an even manner, keep the egg salad in the refrigerator and take out before serving. If you want to know how to make egg salad without mayonnaise, this is the way. Egg Salad with Mustard
As mentioned earlier, egg salad is a dish which can be made in numerous ways. You can use different ingredients to prepare various types of egg salads, as per your choice. One of the popular versions of this dish is egg salad with mustard, which can also be used as sandwich spread.
Ingredients
- Hard-boiled eggs - 8 to 10
- Cooked and cubed chicken - one cup
- Dried cherries - ½ cup
- Walnuts - ½ cup (optional)
- Chopped celery - one cup
- Mayonnaise - ¾ cup
- Milk - ¼ cup
- Prepared mustard - one tablespoon
- Dill or rosemary - one pinch
- Salt and pepper - as per taste
The method of preparation is similar to the earlier one. All you have to do is to hard boil the eggs, peel and chop (keep three boiled eggs aside). Take a large bowl and mix the chopped eggs, dried cherries, walnuts, chicken cubes, celery, salt and pepper and mix them well. Mix milk and mayonnaise in another bowl, along with prepared mustard and spice. Now, add this mixture to the ingredients in the first bowl. Mix the contents and add extra mayonnaise if you find the salad too dry. Garnish the egg salad with egg slices (use the eggs that were kept aside).
